A bit pricey given the condition of some facilities (e.g. Family onsen and bathroom) but nice location, friendly staff and good experience. The price might be reflective of the time of lodging and location so I'm guessing value for money.
A wonderful stay in June 2014. I wanted a full onsen (hot springs hotel) experience, and my daughter and I had plans to fully explore the temples in Nikko. The location was superb - 100 meters from the red Shinkyo Bridge, and right at the entrance to the temple areas. The carving that gave rise to ...
Beautiful Japanese garden, award-winning design, good view from room, comfortable & spacious room. Onsen facilities - nice open air hot spring, quality of water, amenity were great! Very friendly and helpful staff. On next day, the front desk manager proactively asked our day plan (heavy rain), called ...
We arrived a bit late to the hotel and missed dinner because of it. One of the staff members went out of his way to personally drive us to a small store nearby to get some food for the night. Really excellent customer obsession! The meals at the ryokan were full of variety. Lots of little dishes, ...

Staff was very friendly and helpful. English was excellent. Provided suggestions of things to see, where to get dinner, and directions to nearby trails. Room was clean, quiet, and AC worked properly. I had a lovely view of the mountains and could hear the river. The window had a screen, so I could ...

It was also within walking distance of the temples and shrines in Nikko. There is a road separating the river from the hotel, but the hotel ...
Overall nice stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable, ryokan style lodging. The onsen was very nice, pleased that the onsen could be used privately 30 minutes at a time and throughout the night, my daughter was a little shy and wasn't interested in a shared onsen experience. Staff was very helpful. ...
Hotel nice and reminds of those small inns in Japanese or Korean drama. Dinning hall is cosy and packaged breakfast is a good start to the day.
