Hotel Monet is a bare-bones hotel near the north-east corner of Port Lympia. You have to haul your luggage up the stairs, the rooms are rather tight, and if you get a room on the street it will be somewhat noisy. The shower was a disappointment; there is hot water but it takes at least five minutes for it to arrive, and the shower stall was smelly and the bracket for the shower head (the one on the 2nd floor (3rd storey)) was broken.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Villa la Malouine last week. We had a great room with two large windows and balconies. Typically French décor and the most amazing thing was that it was so quiet with no traffic noise. Considering the Hotel was on a busy main road. It was just set back from the road and this made all the difference.

Villa Leonie is a small apartment hotel. We had a one bedroom, king suite, with both a kitchen and a living room. We were surprised at how spacious it was. This was a place we could have been comfortable in for a much longer stay. It was also safe--almost too safe. We had a little bit of trouble getting in when we first arrived. However, that was soon cleared up, and we were welcomed most warmly by the gracious Clemente who gave us a lot of information about what to see and how to get around. Her tip about Ville-Franche-sur-Mer--just a few stops away by bus--led us to one of the pretty beaches we have ever seen.
The kitchen was small, but it had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. We loved the garden, and we loved the whimsical, antique touches in the halls and landings.
The bus stops right near Villa Leonie, and it is also an easy walk to the Old Port, a beach, and Place Garibaldi and the tram. So, it was very easy to get around from here. This convenience came with the price of some traffic noise, but we were only disturbed by it one night. The neighbourhood is lovely. It is not too touristy, and yet it is convenient to many of the tourist attractions--the best of both worlds.
Also known as Lympia Port, the Port de Nice is the main port of the city, situated 9 km from the Nice Côte d'Azur Airport and easily reachable on foot from the Old Town and other main attractions. The port has a high-speed ferry service to Corsica, making day trips possible. The famous Place Garibaldi square is nearby, as well as several museums, and restaurants and cafès line the streets.
