Great location and fit for a short stay.
All the staff was helpful and friendly. Housekeeping even found and returned a wallet with cash intact. The room and bad were quite basic, and small, as to be expected at the value pricing offered.

Knowing the hotel had 24 hours reception was a comfort given flights can be delayed. Which happened in our case. Reception staff very friendly & helpful. Location is great. Airport tram stop under 5 mins walk. 10 minutes walk to beach, passing lots of interesting restaurants

The only good thing about this place is how close it is to the beach, which is about a 10 minute walk. Negatives include horrible WiFi (worked maybe 50% of the time), outdated decor, walls were dirty and in desperate need of a coat of paint, carpet is old and nasty looking, and shower drained so slowly I had to turn it off halfway through to drain some because I was afraid it would flood the bathroom. Staff were overall friendly and seemed sympathetic to the fact that the WiFi barely worked but reading reviews online it looks like this is an ongoing problem. Seems like a serious issue they should address ASAP. Wouldn’t recommend. Spend your money elsewhere.

Easy, convenient.
Check in was super fast and easy, the staff was very friendly. I wish there has been a power outlet near the bed for charging my phone over night, but that is really the only complain. The room had a large balcony, and the location was very central.

Pleasantly surprised. Room was clean, which is the most important. If you understand this isn't going to be the Hilton, you'll find a great deal here. Best hotel in Nice if you're on a budget.

Cheap Hotel for a Reason
The rooms available through hotels.com do not look like what is shown in the room photos. The photos are of superior rooms which cost extra. The standard rooms are very dated, small and for some reason every room smells musty or of some sort of strong bleach / cleaning agent. The WiFi speed is poor and dropped out numerous times.

Horrible hotel.
The service was horrid and the room is worse. The only good aspect is having a balcony of the bedroom that we spent most time before turning to bed with no pillows. When asked for pillows, we were questioned by concierge if we had two in the room or not and insisted that they do not supply more to rooms. Breakfast was also horrible it the amount of money we paid for it the first day.

Budget hotel close to beach, shopping, Vieux Nice
My whole Nice experience was fantastic and my selection of this hotel was based on budget and location. Hotel staff were very helpful but just found the bed in this room very uncomfortable and the toilet, without ventilation, smells of stale urine.

Don't stay here.
Wifi is absolutely horrible. The shower doesn't drain properly so it fills up like a bath. The shower also leaked onto the bathroom floor. At night i went down to reception and was greeted with 'what do you want'. When I simply asked if the wifi was on i was told 'what do i look like an IT guy? Go complain during the day i have no time for this.'

Simple Carlton
The Nice Carlton suited us because we did not stay at the hotel at all. We needed the room only for sleeping. It is a nice but very simple hotel. The room was very small (there are bigger rooms) and it had no mini bar/fridge.

Sad and depressing
Staff at reception was okay, and did his job to explain the area and hotel when asked. Room was old, bed and mattress very worn out. Bath and toilet were in separate rooms, very inconvenient. Toilet was old, stained, and no shower curtain, so floor gets wet easily. The carpet was dodgy, and I didn't feel comfortable walking without shoes. Balcony window could not lock, so that made me feel insecure as we were on 1st floor. But the restaurant and external facade look deceptively good from the main road.

We booked a double room with Garden View as offered. We got a twin room with street view & noise. There was no curtain surrounding the over-bath shower, and no evidence of there ever having been one, so all splashes went on the bathroon floor and door. Internet quailty was so bad it was unusable. Overall, very poor quality

Location in relation to beach, restaurants, shops was excellent but unfortunately the hotel is very run down - the 3 stars must all be for its location. If this was a superior double, I dread to think what a standard double was like. It is badly needing redecorated, refurbished nevermind more thoroughly cleaned. Shower room in particular didn't look fresh, shower was old and rusty, didn't look clean and leaked badly enough to warrant wrapping a towel round one of the connections to stop it from soaking the floor. Several requests to have it changed didn't make any difference. Breakfast room was unwelcoming and poorly decorated. Hotel didn't cope well serving breakfast when more rooms became occupied even though breakfast must have been very straightforward to provide - luckily the coffee was nice. 'Astro turf' effect grass at entrance and on balcony area made it look particularly tacky. Extractor fan or whatever it was on balcony looked dirty, took up a fair bit of room and sadly didn't add to the appearance. Staff very unsmiling and unwelcoming. Wasn't as if it was that cheap. Wouldn't go back unless it had a complete makeover.

Its no Ritz! Stayed for one night, guy on reception was lovely, really helpful. pros: near train station, quiet, good decent sized balcony. cons: room was a bit shabby, could do with a refurb, or new bedspreads at least! Booked a double but beds were made up as twins. No shower curtain, so bathroom was flooded after two showers. Towels provided were poor thin and old. Overall, ok for the one stopover night, but no longer than that!

Hotel interior needed to freshen up and improve decor. One sheet on my bed was torn. The electric socket did not work hence I could not dry my hair in my room. There was debris on the balcony which had not been cleared and breakfast was meagre and without choice Reception could not direct me to Church on Sundayand made little effort in so doing. Poor Value for the price. Location was very good

sans the ritz, this hotel happened to be a short walk straight from the train station (6 blocks) and even a shorter walk to the beach (3 blocks). Beautiful city and great location. i would be happy to stay there again

Expensive for what you get
The hotel was supposed to be a three star however the room was very small and the bathroom was so small that the shower was virtually unuseable. Also the sheets on the bed were dirty!!! We have stayed in nice for the past number of years and I can safely say that this hotel was one of the most overpriced for what you get. Definately wouldn't recommend it to anybody. There are hotels in Nice which are a lot cheaper and a lot better. On the plus side it is very central to trams beach etc... and the air con was excellent.

This is a 3 star hotel???
I was really looking forward to a relaxing escape when I booked our 4 night stay at the Carlton. Unfortunately, our room was absolutely tiny, barely enough space on each side of two twin beds for us to walk around. The only amenity was a tiny TV; there was no mini-fridge, coffeemaker, nothing. Wi-fi was available, but only if you went to the lobby. All that said, I had no complaints about the staff. They were quite nice and helpful. The location was also pretty good. Walking distance to the beach, shops, and restaurants.
