well sited hotel, good bus service, easy parking

Posted 31-May-2017
Pros: The building, service at reception and breakfast.
Cons: Housekeeping, safety in shower
Location: I had meetings, etc. arranged in central Edinburgh, but I enjoyed the pub (Salisbury Arms?) opposite
Reception staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast - good buffet selection, well cooked hot food, good service. Bedroom adequate, but lacking comfortable chair. Television hard to operate, even after help from reception staff. Bathroom well appointed, but lack of handrails in shower made it very dangerous. Room service sub-standard. On Sunday, cleaner came at 2.00pm when I was having a rest. He asked me if I wanted any clean towels; when I said that I wanted the room serviced, he said that he finished at 2.30pm, so I would have to temporally vacate the room. On Monday, towels were left lying on the bathroom floor and used glasses were not washed. This is not acceptable for a hotel in your price range.

Lovely stay, only downside was restaurant/bistro. Looked very clinical, although we were sure food would be good, it lacked any atmosphere.Could not fault hotel or staff.Brilliant.

This hotel was in a good place in the old town for the money just a short walk through the park takes you to the bottom of the royal mile and hollyrood palace we checked into reception and was greeted by a lovely smiling face we got to our room which was on the 2nd floor lovely and clean with a large bathroom and shower comfortable bed the breakfast was served to us we had a choice of continental and full English with coffee served in the dining room free parking at this hotel would definitely stay again

Central yet Separate

Posted 03-Apr-2017
Pros: central yet separate
Cons: Re-hang the toilet to its correct height
Location: University, SE of city, walking distance to most stuff
Excellent, all bar the toilet which was wall hung and far too low.

My husband and I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. All the staff was so helpful and friendly. The breakfast is excellent, so many options. Room is very large, especially the bathroom. It is all very clean too. This hotel is also directly next to Arthur's Seat.

Very nice old style hotel

Ok there are more modern hotels and in brand new condition in the heart of Edinburgh but they will be at least double the price. The room was very clean and had everything you can want. Breakfast was good and quickly served. Internet (free) was excellent and very fast. I would stay here again when going to Edinburgh.
