The family room was beautiful, we even ordered room service after midnight and it wasn't too expensive, the staff were all friendly and helped us whenever we needed

Overpriced

Posted 24-Feb-2017
Spent a night for an anniversary with my husband. The rooms are a bit over exaggerated in the description. Basically a small box room with a bed in it. bathroom was nice. Heaters were extremely loud. TV was not working. For the price, disappointed.

Great location. Friendly staff. Room comfortable, but oddly no wardrobe and yet a huge blank space of floor where you could put one very simply. One of the most comfy beds I've slept in!

A bit of a let down.

Pros: Excellent central location.
Cons: Revamp the decor & fix the heating / air-conditioning units. Reduce the price for breakfast.
Location: Right in the heart of Newcastle, immediately next to St James's Park. Easy access to all of the city's facilities.
Given their generally high tariff & enviable central location, I had always anticipated this hotel to be an excellent location for a visit to Newcastle. However, the reality was actually somewhat disappointing. We found that the kitsch facades & decor were starting to look a little tired & threadbare, both in the reception areas & the bedrooms. The (standard double) bedrooms were certainly a lot smaller that the publicity pictures indicated & our room was "blessed" with the noisiest heater / air-conditioner that we had ever encountered; leaving us a choice of either warm & toasty or chilly but quiet enough to get a good night's sleep !! I also thought that the £15 to £18 charge for an English breakfast was completely over the top.
