Room not up to standard

Posted 18-Feb-2018
Checking was open at 3. We turned up at 3:30 to be told that the room hadn’t been cleaned yet. When we got in the room at 4:30 there was food in the kitchen that should have been moved and the bread was out of date. The bathroom was dirty and the shower head would only stay in the lowest point for the screws being broke. Staff were nice enough and food was up to a good standard.

Great location and amazing staff

Posted 17-Feb-2018
Pros: The stylish enterance, the room itself and location.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: You are less than 5 minutes walk to enjoy all that Newcastle has to offer from shopping, to the theatre to the amazing restuarants and bars.
My husband stayed at the hotel for a friends wedding nearby and was really impressed with the hotel and room. This was our first stay there and really benefited from the location being a short walking distance to everything we needed. We did think having a room over looking the street below that we may hear noises from outside but we were relieved to not be able to hear anything. The room was spacious, enough for two people to comfortably get ready and still move about. We were so thankful to the staff who we emailed afterwards as on the morning of leaving the hotel, I became seriously unwell where an ambulance was called and took me into hospital. My husband was very upset and unsure as what to do next and the receptionist was so helpful and kind and was able to assist both of us in our hour of need. She promptly organised for an ambulance and organised fresh water and ice cubes to the room and kindly allowed us to keep the room until we eventually returned to collect our stuff. They were very kind and prompt in reacting to us. Can’t reccomend the staff and hotel enough, will be returning soon!

Freezing

Posted 11-Feb-2018
The room was freezing. It took 6 hours for the room to get to barable, so much so that I had to leave the heater on all night which sounded as if I had a Range Rover in the room.

Overall good stay

Posted 04-Feb-2018
Plus points: Staff, very friendly & efficient Location for Uni (and football ground) Cleanliness throughout Three big windows in room, great views over city Breakfast Attractive public areas Convenient parking (limited spaces though) Negative points: Room temp was like a fridge when we arrived... Being told by reception that we had to turn heating on manually.... Only heating in room was a wall mounted fan heater - with thermostat at 21deg it never stopped....all night! Heated towel rail in bathroom didn’t work, despite reception saying it would once we were in the room and turned lights on (??).... Shower screen design meant floor got wet no matter what - and the bathroom was already cold.... Aside from the heating issues, the hotel was pleasant & the location / staff made up for the shortcomings.

Location: Great location for St James Park.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. A very modern hotel with some interesting features.

Great Location

The hotel was perfectly located and parking was convenient. The staff were pleasant, and the overall feel of the hotel upon entering was comfortable. The room was a little tired and dated, but still comfortable and functional.

Pros: Location good, few minutes walk to shope and restaurants.
Cons: Proper tea for breakfast instead of a flask of "filter tea" which was disgusting.
Location: Location excellent, few minutes walk to all amenities.
Excellent hotel, very modern, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff and good location.

Not impressed

Posted 22-Jan-2018
Pros: Breakfast was pleasant.
Cons: Housekeeping and the rooms now need updating. The decor was tired and not luxurious. The throw over the bed was threadbare and the towels had seen bet
Location: Good location. 5 minutes to the shops and close to Newcastle's tourist attractions.
I was expecting better for the money spent. The communal areas are well kept however, the photos on expedia are not clear on how small the room was. My room with a balcony was cold, possibly because of three outside walls and it was a particularly cold weekend, plus the heating did not work adequately. Room housekeeping was not until 5:15 at least, which meant I didn't feel able to relax in my room before heading out for the evening. I would not stay here again.
