Room amenities were awful - toilet holder hanging off wall, as well as shelf above toilet. Shower leaked turning the bathroom into a swamp. No toilet roll, and they don’t clean your room if you’re staying for more than one night. Noisy, loud corridors with drunks banging on doors through weekend stay.

Nice hotel but let down by no housekeeping or tea and coffee replenishment unless requested by midday, nobody told us this at check in and so was very unimpressed to go back to room in the evening to unmade bed, wet towels and no tea and coffee.

On checking in we were informed that the Shark bar was closed. which is inside the hotel .and then told restaurant was also closed.if we had known we would have gone elsewhere as there was no facilities to use in the hotel.breakfast was served in the restaurant area.there was no knifes and forks left no glasses for drinks.certain foods had run out. there was only one yong girl at the resturant entrance which she couldnt really leave her post to help anyone requiring anything.so a bit of a let down this time .the whole experiance really

Outdated and disappointing
In desperate need of renovation. The room looked frozen in time for the last 30 years with no upkeep. Window was stuck open in winter, bulbs were out, stains on a towel and marks on most walls. We sat down for breakfast and walked straight back out. The tables were dirty, food was grim process junk, nothing remotely fresh.

Very helpful reception staff who listened to my concerns. However, the bathroom was dirty with hairs left in the shower and the room was freezing and I had to contact reception late in the night to put the heating on. Some confusing information about parking as it was off -site in a multi-story car park and cost an extra £15.00 which was not indicated in the original price.

Good service but cold room
The staff was very helpful. Any questions i had regarding the hotel, the city, or food they were able to answer me. The only real problem is i had no real control over the heat. It stayed on maybe 10 minutes before shutting off and i had to keep pressing the start button to get it back on. The front desk was informed and tried to help but the room remained too cool during this winter time.

Right opposite St James’s Park and you can see the stadium from your bed. However the sound proofing of the rooms is terrible and you can hear everything going on in the next room.

Rooms could do with a proper clean
When we arrived at our room the door was unlocked and the tv was on so we tried to call reception from the room phone to let them know but the phone didn’t work. The cleanliness of the room was poor, there were hairs on the bed (human and animal) the kitchen work tops and bathroom work tops were dirty. Stains on the walls and fixtures all round just grubby. The pull out bed was not suitable for an adult to sleep on at all so 3 of us slept in the main bed, the bed it’s self was comfy and big but not great having 3 adults having to sleep in it. The coffee machine in reception was the best part (the hot chocolate was amazing) The room has everything you need but it’s the cleanliness that lets it down which is a shame because it has so much potential but I would not class it as a 4 star hotel. 12 o’clock check out would be great instead of 11am, there are a lot of cheaper hotels that are cleaner and have a 12pm check out.

Great location and staff were friendly. However, value for money for quality and functionality of room was disappointing. Sliding glass doors for bathroom gave no privacy, sofa bed was very uncomfortable and tiny (shouldn’t count as a bed when we paid for three), window couldn’t open, shower and radiator temperature controls didn’t work. Disappointed by quality and photos were misleading. Would choose a different hotel next time.

Upon checking in the hotel did not believe that I had already paid, despite showing an itinerary with my credit card details on, they continued to request bank statements showing proof of payment. In terms of the room, it was very cold during the night and is heated by an old style plug in wall heater. The room was not adequately cleaned and dust could be found throughout. The location is central, however I cannot give this review any more than one star based on my stay.

Booked a night in a suite only to find out when i got there the room had been double booked.surely it would be advisable to tell guests prior to arrival and not to dissapoint them when they get there! Nwas put in a small room where rhe heating could not be controlled properly and fsr smaller than a suite.

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel but this time didn't match the previous 2 visits. The staff are fabulous and cannot be faulted for their friendliness which cannot be said for a lot of other hotels. The room I had this time was smaller than before but the bed was comfy. I could only find BBC channels on the TV (might just have been me though!!) and the remote control didn't work but was replaced when I advised reception. The bathroom was very 'compact' with a shelf overhanging the toilet at head height and the toilet roll holder very close to the side of the toilet. The shower was ok and a good size but not very powerful but the most disappointing thing was that the heated towel rail wasn't working which meant the bathroom was pretty cold especially the tiled floor. When I reported this to reception I was told they weren't allowed to turn the towel rails on due to health and safety - seems ridiculous to me but then again H&S rules often can be. The breakfast is a buffet and quite tasty but the room where you eat is very disappointing compared to the hotel itself as it's in a bar which is used as a sports bar later in the day. Parking is subsidised but if you are only staying for 1 night you only get 24 hours parking which means you may have to move your car or somehow buy another ticket it you want to stay over the 24 hours - something to think about. Overall it is a very convenient hotel and I did get a good rate for my stay.

Hotel was in good location for everything we wanted in the town, room was comfortable & clean. Wasn’t to keen on eating breakfast in the adjoining bar the breakfast was ok, Self service. Was happy with the rate we paid at £86 b&b wouldn’t pay any more than that if staying again.

Definitely not a prestige hotel
Reception was lovely & very friendly, checked into a standard king room at the front of the building and straight away, the noise from the main road was horrendous, the room looked really tired and the blinds don’t go to the edges of the window so when on the main road all the street lights beam through, I called and asked to move which they kindly enough did and put me into the suite which was a lot nicer and at the back of the hotel. It was still noisy, sirens constantly going off all night & horns beeping etc, the bedding had a big rip in it which I wasn’t noticed by the cleaners and I think the bed was 2x singles but with a mattress topper as you couldn’t sleep in the middle without rolling to the other side… The shower was horrendous, barely even warm even on the hottest setting, the ceiling shower was really weak so I opted for the shower head but it didn’t even have an adjuster so you had to keep it at the bottom & didn’t stay in the place so you have to hold it… overall good service but would never stay again, nowhere near the ‘prestige’ hotel it looks on the photos
