Disappointing check-in.

Posted 06-May-2018
Only 2 Receptionists on duty and with a large party causing confusion at the front of the queue the rest of us were left to wait, as both ladies dealt with them. We waited just short of 30 minutes to get served. Not great tbh. Room very clean, very basic but all that was needed for a one night stay when we were only there to rest our heads.

The staff make this hotel tops.

Posted 04-May-2018
Pros: Staff, location, usually quiet, spacious rooms.
Cons: The rooms doors close a little abruptly!
Location: 7 minutes walk from railway station - far enough to avoid the problems associated with stations.
I stay in hotels frequently on business. 150+ nights per year. In a busy hotel with 240 rooms not everything will go to plan. Wear and tear is inevitable, things break, fellow guests behave in unexpected ways. The difference between these events being a minor blip or ruining the stay is how the hotel management and staff react to them. If I ever have an issue I just mention it to the staff at this Jury's Inn and they get it sorted out one way or another immediately. If the hotel is quiet, sometimes not enough hot water is circulating to get a proper shower in the morning. Mentioned it in passing at reception and they came up with an ingenious solution. They would run the water during the night on the lower floors to draw hot water through the system. Sorted! Sometimes fellow guests can be a bit inconsiderate with noise levels. Jury's staff have moved me umpteen times without objection. And when you don't need any intervention - which is most of the time I have to say - you don't even know they're there. Never in your face.

Overall, a nice stay

Posted 29-Apr-2018
Pros: Close proximity to the transport links and central station as well as the centre. The staff that I encountered (Scott) was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: It would be better if the different classes of food are kept separately.i.e Sausages and bacon should have been kept away from the hasbrowns and beans
I had a nice spacious room with the ability to do my work on the table provided. Free wifi was provided and was grateful that the staff were able to print something off for me that I urgently needed. The bathroom may need some modernizing, but it was okay. Breakfast was nice too but compared to other hotels I have visited, there didn't to be a lot of options or variety. A big turn off was when I saw the Sausage, Bacon, Beans and Hash browns bowl all so close to each other. In fact, after someone in front of me took some Hash browns, and put the tong back, it nearly fell into the Sausage bowl which would not have been good. Overall though, the stay was pleasant, especially with the staff members being very helpful especially Scott

Grotty and tired hotel in a poor location

Posted 11-Apr-2018
Cons: In particular he breakfast, the decor and sound-proofing of the rooms.
Location: Very poor location. Nothing around there in terms of restaurants or cafes.
This hotel is set in a soulless part of Newcastle, and feels very tired and in need of updating. The communal areas feel more like a motorway service station, and the rooms are small and noisy. I could hear the TV noise from both adjoining rooms, as well as doors banging all night. The breakfast was underwhelming. Very disappointing.

Great reception staff!

Posted 04-Apr-2018
Received a lovely welcome at reception, genuinely interested in ensuring I had a good stay even though it was only for one night. Reception staff made it all the more a perfect visit for me, love a bit of exceptional customer service, well done Jurys Inn!

Be realistic

Posted 02-Apr-2018
Pros: Location, spacious rooms.
Cons: Door closing dampeners have seen better days.
Location: 7 minutes walk from central station. 10 minutes to most places in town. Across the road from the Arena if that's you're scene.
This Jurys Inn provides me with everything I need for regular stays in Newcastle on business. It is competitively priced, well located for the station and city centre, the rooms are spacious and always clean, the beds and linen are very comfortable. Sometimes you'll find yourself with noisy neighbours. That's hardly the hotel's fault. When this happens the staff are always helpful and swift to relocate me to a quieter spot. With 240 rooms mostly going like a fair some wear and tear, and the odd breakdown, are inevitable. The front desk staff are always quick to resolve any issues without a drama. Nobody gets in the way at this hotel. They're there if you need them but not in your face when you don't, which is most of the time. I usually arrive late, about 23.00 after a long journey. The staff have got it that the only thing you want at that time is to get to your room and get to sleep. They get you through check-in very swiftly.
