Gutes Hotel mit geringen Abstrichen.

Posted 10-Apr-2016

Too many small irritations

Posted 09-Apr-2016
When I stay in a 4 star hotel I do not want to deal with problems and irritations. The internet connection kept vanishing, and I had the privilege of having to pay £10 a day for the service. I had to go across the bridge to a cafe to use their internet at one point (which was free). Parking was £12 a day, even for guests, which is scandalous The tap in bath was defective. I was told I had to take my bath towel down to use the swimming pool, so when I had a shower later before I went out, the towel and I stank of chlorine. The food was deeply average, and overpriced. The main good thing was the view of my beautiful home city from the lounge which I was hoping to a have a better hotel visiting experience from.

beautiful view

Posted 14-Mar-2016
Pros: I enjoyed the wonderful view from the bar, restaurant and my room, the included breakfast and spa facilities as well as the comfortable bed.
Cons: The carpet was very tired, the shower curtain mouldy at the bottom especially and the parking should be included in the price of the room.
Location: Superb location for walking along the Quayside and to the Monument, and for attending events at the Sage, the Baltic Art Gallery, etc.
We stayed to attend a Sat. conference, arriving Friday eve and departing Sunday am. We reserved 3 rooms and although they weren't adjacent, they were on the same floor. Staff were very helpful at all times and we had a very comfortable stay.

Fabulous location but shabby room

Posted 13-Mar-2016
I would recommend The Hilton solely due to its location. Breakfast in the Windows on the Tyne restaurant was good & the view from the restaurant & bar was fabulous. Our room was very shabby though - stained carpet & badly patched up dents in the wall.

Ideal City Break Hotel

Posted 02-Feb-2016
Pros: Staff, atmosphere, pool and location.
Cons: Robes and slippers in the room would have been nice.
Location: Walk across the river for all the bars and restaurants Newcastle has to offer. Snack lunches are available at the Sage and Baltic.
I visited with my wife and eldest daughter for a weekend and could not have been happier. The check-in staff were friendly and welcoming, highlighting the good value breakfast offer (which we accepted). The room was comfortable and well appointed, problems with the hair dryer and morning paper were quickly and cheerfully resolved. We enjoyed the pool facilities and having a nice breakfast overlooking the Tyne. The location could not have been better, essentially beside the Sage and a short walk into town or along the river to the Baltic. The Concierge was excellent, organising taxis and making recommendations about the immediate area. Being twenty minutes from the airport made this the perfect hotel for two nights in Newcastle.
