Hotel near entertainment venue The Sage

Posted 18-Oct-2017
Pros: Ideal situation for entertainment at the Sage perfect
Location: Go to the Sage
Staff were excellent very helpful & friendly & made my short stay as enjoyable as possible. Food was superb both dinner & breakfast the following morning. I would recommend the Hilton to anyone going to the Sage as it is within easy walking distance.

Overpriced

Posted 04-Sep-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Air conditioning of bedroom
Overnight parking in the basement car park is scandalously priced at £12. A glass of Belgian Cidre at the hotel lounge bar was equally scandalously priced at £7. The bedroom air conditioning was noisy and ineffective.

A pleasant stay but no early check-in available

Posted 31-Aug-2017 on Hotels
We chose this hotel for a last minute bank holiday break & we really enjoyed our stay. We arrived at the hotel earlier than expected at mid-day, unfortunately there where no rooms available for early check-in & the desk staff reminded us check-in was not until 3pm. Due to the excellent location of the hotel we had a nice leisurely walk into Newcastle & had some lunch. We returned to the hotel at 2.15pm but again we where told there where no rooms available until 3pm, rather than hang around we decided to head back into the city for the rest of the day. We returned to the hotel to check-in at 7pm, for some strange reason we where allocated a disabled access room with a shower & no bath . . . . Very strange. Still it was a nice room in good condition with plenty of space & amenities. We had a very comfortable nights sleep & a lovely breakfast the following morning, the restaurant area was extremely busy at breakfast but the staff coped very well & there was no shortage of food selection. All in all we had a pleasant stay & the location is excellent, pity we did not get a slightly earlier check-in though & in hindsight a standard room with a bath.

Air conditioning was very noisy but not effective, made worse by the fact there was no window to open. It was very muggy weather and so the room felt claustrophobic. Otherwise it was very nice and staff were very friendly.
