Ideal City Break Hotel

Posted 02-Feb-2016
Pros: Staff, atmosphere, pool and location.
Cons: Robes and slippers in the room would have been nice.
Location: Walk across the river for all the bars and restaurants Newcastle has to offer. Snack lunches are available at the Sage and Baltic.
I visited with my wife and eldest daughter for a weekend and could not have been happier. The check-in staff were friendly and welcoming, highlighting the good value breakfast offer (which we accepted). The room was comfortable and well appointed, problems with the hair dryer and morning paper were quickly and cheerfully resolved. We enjoyed the pool facilities and having a nice breakfast overlooking the Tyne. The location could not have been better, essentially beside the Sage and a short walk into town or along the river to the Baltic. The Concierge was excellent, organising taxis and making recommendations about the immediate area. Being twenty minutes from the airport made this the perfect hotel for two nights in Newcastle.

Brilliant view of the Tyne Bridge

Posted 18-Jan-2016
Pros: Nice staff, great view.
Cons: A walk in shower rather than shower over bath
Location: Walk to the Quayside pubs over the swing bridge, right next to the Sage and the Baltic. Really central.
Easy quick check in on a wild rainy January night, helpful staff. The room had a fabulous view of the bridge, could have just sat and watched it all night. Spotlessly clean with all the usual bits & pieces, like iron/hairdryer/tea/water/toiletries. The bed was a bit firm, but not saggy, pillows puffy and doona fluffy. Breakfast was good, varied, usual stuff with lots of choice, you could really stuff yourself from the self service buffet if you wanted to! Again the staff were friendly and helpful, dead canny! Used room service and it was prompt and really rather nice! I suppose a bit expensive for a bowl of soup, sandwich with salad & crisps, but then that's pretty standard. Parking was easy, but it IS hard to find the entrance to the Hotel! The road is confusing so have a look on street view first. Altogether a very pleasant stay. We will stay there again.

Very nice hotel, location great and facilities fabulous ! Only couple of downsides the fact you have to pay £14.99 for the wifi. I think for a hotel chain as big as this it would be free or cheaper as the "cheaper" chain hotels offer it for free. Also hotel parking £12 per night I just find it outrageous. Nevertheless great stay overall

Posted 23-Nov-2015
The hotel is great its not cheap but you get what you pay for i had a executive room this entitled me to lots o stuff that i only found out later the executive lounge between 6-8am was free canopies and drinks however the tables where left uncleaned and plates/glasses ect left a little disappointed most other things where great breakfast in bed was ok but the staff asked for cash i refused food in the bar was cheap and great value for money hope this helps

Not Value For Money

Posted 10-Nov-2015
Pros: Riverside view
Cons: Don't charge for Wi-fi when you are already an expensive hotel. Its a cheap shot to milk money from your customers.
Being close to the Quayside, be prepared for lots of noise at night and drunken people in the corridors. Riverside view is great but likely to be noisy. And they still charge for Wi-fi when they are already expensive and don't really give value for the price they charge. There is better value to be had in Newcastle.

Rip off car parking and wireless charges.

Posted 01-Nov-2015 on Hotels
Very nice hotel with great views of the bridge and Sage, but charging for wireless and car parking is just gratuitous when you are being charged £120 per night. Spoilt the whole experience, unnecessarily expensive and poor value. Pool and leisure facilities also small considering hotels size. Would not stay again as felt ripped off.

Great hotel with lovely views, but no free wifi

Posted 28-Oct-2015 on Hotels
Lovely hotel with fabulous views. Only complaints are that there was no free wifi in the rooms, which you expect from a good quality 4 star hotel these days. The 4G signal in the area was poor as well which isn't the hotels fault but didn't help either. Also the room was a little on the warm side and the air conditioning didn't really help to cool it down.
