Great hotel very convenient for everything

Posted 27-Aug-2015
Pros: The staff, our spacious room and comfortable beds.
Cons: The air-con in our room was definitely not -user-friendly - quite a challenge in fact, perhaps an update wouldn't go amiss. Also as above.
Location: Great location, once you find it!! Quayside is lovely worth a walk. City centre has good choice of nice restaurants. West Jesmond is fab....
When we finally arrived - sat nav and A1 road closure issues - the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, helpful and polite. Everyone we came across from the chamber maids up to the reception/conceriege were extremely warm and helpful, we felt very much at ease. Breakfast choices were wonderful, and my ever-tiresome request for 'gluten-free' options did not phase the staff - just as if this happens all the time, no problems - not the case in many places I visit!!! If we had to criticise, it would be the confusion entering from the car park. The lift arrives in a lobby-type area but there is no signage to say where 'Reception' is and as we arrived very late, tired after a long drive and in the dark, we had no clue what to do. However, this was again where the gentleman on duty came to the rescue as he had noticed our confusion immediately and came out of the main building across the courtyard to meet and greet us and take us to where we needed to be. I think it would be a worthwhile task to try to get the car park lift to arrive in the main reception area, or at the very least to put a large sign in the lobby with an arrow pointing to Reception, and indicating you have to go outside first, then re-enter at the main entrance.

Stayed for 3 nights. Initial room smelt of smoke hotel staff resolved the issue promptly by moving us to another room. We enjoyed our stay and breakfast had a good variety to cater for my young son.

Short stay in Gateshead for Business Purposes

Posted 09-Aug-2015
Pros: Location in centre of Newcastle/Gateshead. Competent, professional, helpful, friendly staff. Car-Parking within the hotel.
Cons: Not a lot
Location: Location is central and close to each of the iconic Tyne Bridges. It is within very easy reach of Art Galleries, Train Station, Good Restaurants etc
Hotel proved to be excellent in every respect: From Reception at Check-in to Reception at Check-out, staff proved to be friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel commands a splendid location on the South Bank of The Tyne; "Reception" in the hotel is airy, spacious and uncluttered, providing an excellent panoramic view of Newcastle across the Tyne which is only a hundred metres or so away. Our room was spotless, roomy, modern and immediately available. Breakfast was consumed, (obviously in the restaurant!), again relishing the skyline across the Tyne. All in all an excellent experience.

Great location for the city

Posted 04-Aug-2015
Pros: Lovely swimming pool and leisure facilities
Cons: Towels provided at the pool as we forgot to take ours from the bedroom!
Location: Easy to walk into the centres of both Gateshead and Newcastle, lots of places to eat and drink and handy for walks beside the Tyne
we ended up with our booking being in an executive room so we had all the unexpected perks of the executive lounge. The staff were very friendly and courteous and all the facilities were excellent. The view from our room and the communal areas was very good.

Fantastic location, very friendly staff.

Posted 28-Jul-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Room cleanliness. On arrival glass on table had water in it with lid on - not changed throughout stay. Also hairs on bathroom floor.
Location: Newcastle a brilliant location for weekend away. Masses to do - inc. race day. Very lively at night. Great bars and restaurants.
Hotel location was brilliant as was the breakfast. One slight niggle in that they forgot to deliver the Sunday papers but were very quick to apologise and rectify the problem.

Enjoyable weekend break

Posted 20-Jul-2015
I have just returned from a weekend break in the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead with my husband and baby. We had a very relaxed and enjoyable weekend, the hotel room was exceptionally clean and very spacious and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful-especially with the little one. We enjoyed the spa facilities which were readily available (24/7 gym for hotel guests and generous pool opening hours also) and had a pleasant meal at the restaurant overlooking the River Tyne. We even took advantage of room service for a light dinner one evening which I was pleasantly surprised by as it was good value for money (drinks not so much which is to be expected!). The hotel is just a pleasant 10/15 mins walk from Newcastle Central train station and we took a taxi to the nearby Metro centre for shopping and food costing us less than £10 (one way). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily return for another break.

Nice hotel close to the Sage where we saw a show

Posted 19-Jul-2015
Spent one night here. Had a lovely early bird evening meal, nicely presented. Staff very friendly. Great views of the Tyne and bridges from dining areas and reception. Attractive reception area. Lovely breakfast with lots of variety. Coffee machine with option to take away cappucino, espresso, chocolate etc. Well equipped gym area and nice pool which we used. Only downside - no films were available for tv in our room on that particular evening.
