I stayed 3 nights and couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable and pleasant experience. The room was spacious with comfortable bed, good choices for breakfast, and the hosts Janet & Peter couldn’t have been any nicer or accommodating. I will definitely return when back in South Shields. Thank you!

Fantastic place to stay.
Fantastic three night stay at this lovely guest house. Room was extremely clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. As well as a well stocked tea/coffee tray there is a fridge and safe in the room. Owners were very friendly and more than happy to suggest sights to visit whilst I the area. Breakfast was tasty and a great start to the day.

Amazing place to stay
Highly recommend the owners where welcoming and friendly on arrival told where me all the local places to visit where. My room was very clean towels laid out nicely a nice little touch of some posh chocolates left on top. Good selection of tea and coffee as well as a bottle of fresh milk and even a cafetiere and some fresh ground coffee in the room which is a lovely little touch you dont get in chain hotels. Breakfast was really good loads of choice and cooked fresh. I would highly recommend you stay here i will definitely staying again.

Luxurious little touches
I loved my stay here. The room was great, and there were luxurious little touches everywhere - fresh milk and proper coffee in the room, handmade chocolates, crisp white linen on such a comfortable bed, and the and the biggest, fluffiest towels. Breakfast was superb - everything such high quality and a great choice. Janet and Peter were friendly, professional, helpful, and gave great suggestions about where to go in the local area.

I arrived early and was made welcome to leave bags.. the room was very compact. But still was able to relax and enjoy the stay. The breakfast was very tasty. Helpful hosts suggested places to go.

What a really lovely and excellent B&B, stayed in a few in the area but this is by far the best one. Excellent spacious room with additional extra touches. Well worth a visit.

The room was a good size and very clean. Tea, coffee and fresh milk were provided in the room. Owners are friendly and very welcoming. I’ve stayed in various places in South Shields over the years and this was easily the best. Will definitely go back.

an enjoyable experience at the forest guest house
on arrival, we had a warm welcome by one of the owners. first impressions were of a warm friendly guest house. The room was clean and homely , en suite a little on the small side but did the job for the time we stayed. Breakfast was cooked fresh and to perfection in a spotless kitchen adjoined to the dining area so you could see exactly what was going on and also gave opportunity to have a conversation with the very sociable hosts peter and Janet. Location of the guest house was perfect for us, as it was just a short walk to the beach and also to a lovely park. it was close to an abundance of restaurants and bars, but not noisy. shops were just a short walk away. it was our first visit to south shields and have already talked about returning to the forest guest house. overall we had an enjoyable stay.

The location is great and central and the host are very nice and friendly. But i must point out that the cleaning of the room was appauling...bed made but shower and toilet not cleaned at all throighout our stay of 7 days.

The B&B is on the main restaurant road in South Shields, so there are lots of places to eat and it is quite quiet - though parking is not always right outside. The B&B had a great breakfast selection, and had a wide selection of teas and coffees in the room, and biscuits every day, as well as welcome Easter eggs. We had excellent hosts who changed the duvet tog when requested, and changed the DVD player when it did not work. There is a huge collection of DVDs for guests to use with a wide variety of genres. The room was very clean, and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Simply fantastic
Being from the states and never having been to the UK before I didn't want to stay in a chain hotel. I wanted a more direct experience of the people and culture. Staying here for the week I was in South Shields was absolutely the best choice I made when planning my trip. Janet and Peter are incredibly warm and welcoming, and are full of suggestions on things to do/places to eat in the area. The room I had was incredibly clean and well maintained, as were the parts of the rest of the house I saw. Fantastic breakfasts without exception and lots of conversation every morning.I suppose if you were strictly a business traveler who wanted to be left alone completely other that being cleaned up after you might not enjoy that level of personal engagement, but that's not the type of person who'd likely stay in a guest house in the first place. Given the makeup of the area - quite a few guest houses and places to eat - I was surprised at how quiet it was, even with my road-facing windows open almost all the time. I'm hard pressed to think of anything else they could have done beyond what they did. Would not hesitate to stay with them again, or recommend them to others.

An excellent guest house !!
The forest guest house is an excellent guest house, taking the best elements of a quality hotel and shrinking them to fit a guest house. Attention to detail is what has happened here, the owners have certainly got a keen eye for design and thoughtful touches. A friendly welcome and great conversation.

Christmas Family Visit
Well what can I say having just left this lovely guest house and heading back to sunny Bolton? It's such a pleasure to have stayed in such nice accommodation in South Shields. We had room 1 (executive) and it was so comfortable. A really large and very contemporary bathroom, super bed, TV, wifi (managed to connect up our Amazon fire stick with no problems) and a fab range of teas, coffees, hot chocolate etc. And chocolate biscuits every day. The room comes with 2 bucket type chairs and lots of cushions and pillows. We stayed for 2 nights and had a box of chocolates waiting on the bed when we arrived. The room was warm and cosy at night. Breakfast was big! Good selection of cereals together with fresh fruit. On our first morning we had a super full English - sausages v tasty but just a bit too much for the better half. Coffee is served in a cafetière. Day 2 saw us opting for omelettes which were very good. The guest house is very well positioned being with just a couple of minutes walk from the sea front and the town centre. Thanks to the proprietors for making our stay so relaxing.

Once I booked the hotel on expedia, I recieved a e-mail from the hotel welcoming me and asking about my checkin time, I had a late checkin and this was no trouble at all, I was welcomed at the hotel and made to feel very welcome, A nice little touch was the box of cadburys roses on the bed. The room was spotless, the hotel was within 5 to 10 mins walk of the beach (which was lovely), there are plenty of restaurants on the same street, mainly indian restaurants.

Lovely B&B in an Interesting Place
We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners are really friendly and helpful. Everything was well thought through. Breakfast was very tasty. South Shields has a lovely beach, with great walks along the coast. We visited the nearby Roman fort. Transport links are good so Newcastle city centre is very accessible by Metro. I'd definitely recommend this guesthouse to friends. A great place to stay in an interesting town.
