Good, friendly hotel

As always the room was clean, the bathroom was excellent and the staff were very welcoming.

Comfortable - not far from the beach and Newcastle

Pros: The food was very good, the bed very comfortable.
Cons: The waitress at dinner needs to keep her voice down upon entering the kitchen if she's going to comment on the order sarcastically.
Overall very positive. The attitude of one of the wait staff could be improve four a four and half star hotel.

Wouldn't stay there again

Firstly, I was disappointed with their room cleaning. We put the dirty towels on the floor expecting them to replace clean towels, and we found them folded up neatly and rehung. We knew they rehung it as the same stains were on the towels. Floors had a dirty pee smell and wifi didn't work well on phones in the room. Hotel is 10 mins from shopping Centre.

I am deeply sorry that our room service was not to our usual standard which is to replace all towels placed on the ground for guest staying more than 1 night (note we do have a Planet 21 sustainability initiative where guests can reduce water usage and re-hang towels if they wish to not have them changed daily). Thankyou again for providing the feedback so I am able to talk with our housekeeping team about the matter.

Top of range cheap hotel

For a reasonably priced hotel it had all you needed and more. Good location, comfy rooms, good facilities. Your arent paying for 5 star service so you arent going to get it. But there is nothing wrong with hotel and you definitely get your moneys worth

Perfectly located hotel for our needs.

Pros: We really liked the hotel and would definitely stay there again
Cons: Just the WiFi
Location: Easy reach of the town and local shopping centres and close to Merewether beach
Good breakfast facilities and well priced. the only hassle we had was that as we were at the furtherest end of the hotel the free wireless internet did not work.

Comfortable, though slightly dated

I had a comfortable room, although it seemed a little dated. The spa didn't work in the bath, and the air conditioner was falling apart, even though it did work. I also had to put the toilet cistern back together when I arrived. There were a lot of stairs to tackle, as it is built near the top of a hill. The pool looked nice, but was a little too cold to try out. Definitely consider booking breakfast the night before, as you will make substantial savings, and the breakfast was very good. The staff are great.

Lovely Hotel Staff - Comfortable Room

Pros: Besides the awesome staff: The hotel is very nice, clean, lovely pool area, handy parking right outside my room, free washing/drying facility. Great!
Location: Very close to a main road into Newcastle - very quiet though. Central to everywhere. Close to huge shopping centre at Charlestown. Lots to see and do!
Friendly, clean, handy to everything especially the huge Charlestown Square shopping centre. The Hotel staff at the Mercure Charlestown were so kind and helpful. My son has special needs and they were so understanding. My son had a few meltdowns and trouble getting to sleep (overtired from his horse-riding experience that day). This was the night before we checked out. This meant we were both really tired and were struggling to wake up and get moving on our final morning before check out......plus I was delayed getting the wet horse riding gear washed. I felt so stressed and wasn't feeling well, however the hotel staff were very patient and gave me extra check out time.....that certainly helped with my disorganisation that day. I felt like the worlds worst guest, but they treated me so respectfully. Well done Mercure Charlestown for showing above and beyond care and assistance for a tired mum.
