Nice hotel

Posted 24-Apr-2017
Pros: Central to where we wanted to go
Cons: Lifts so don't have to drag bags up stairs.
Location: Location for us was good central to where we wanted to go
No Lifts so had to drag the bags up two flights of stairs - not sure how wheelchairs would go!

Thank you for your review. We are indeed very central to many areas of Newcastle and surrounds. We have ground floor rooms available for guests in need of easy access rooms available upon request. Kind regards,

Good place to stay. Kind staffs, average conditioned fercilities. However, very slow wifi, you cannot search internet and not good breakfast buffet.

Misleading photos! Facilities and style of a motel

Posted 08-Apr-2017 on Lastminute
Pros: clean room
Location: location is great.
The photos do NOT resemble the actual facilities. I arrived expecting more from what was there, people came and left like a motel. It is nothing more than accommodation for a one night stop over.

Very comfortable overnight stay

Posted 05-Apr-2017
Pros: Quiet location and no road traffic sounds, comfortable room and brilliant heater in your room that you can control yourself for cooling or heating
Cons: I couldn't fault our room, it was perfectly clean with lovely white towels
Location: Quiet location which assists in getting a good night sleep. Short drive to Charlestown CBD.
We only stayed one night as my partner had an eye operation that day and we were returning to Sydney the following day, the Hotel met our expectations in full. The bed was comfortable, and the heater was brilliant. It was a cold wet day and we put the heater on in the room and it warmed up in no time and made us feel even more comfortable. The room is not overly large but more than adequate for a short stay.

A motel rebranded as a Mercure

Posted 21-Mar-2017
Pros: Reasonable value, good location, good room for the price
Cons: The service and outlook of staff
The hotel was convenient with two room doors, one leading into the hotel interior and the other accessible directly from the car park. As we checked in late and the reception was closed, we were able to use the rear entrance with a key the hotel left for us. The room was fine although some of the furniture upholstery was badly stained. Negatives were that breakfast was supposed to be served until 9:30 but when we entered the breakfast room at 9:08 the staff said that breakfast would shortly be closing and started moving tables around us at 9:20. We asked to stay in the same room (we had two separate bookings) and that was arranged - but with a "we managed to do it" outlook. We had a meal in the evening which was quite good, but was spoilt by the fact that the main course took some time to arrive - no problem with that - but then when we asked to order dessert we were told that the kitchen had closed. The staff did not think to tell us beforehand that the kitchen would be closing or that we should order our desserts earlier.

Disappointing.

Posted 16-Mar-2017 on Wotif
Pros: friendly staff, close to where we needed to go
Location: see above
we paid for overseas guest to stay. upon arrival we checked in and were met with friendly staff, unfortunately there was no lift and no offer to help with suitcases, our guests struggled up the stairs with heavy bags. Hotel was clean but looks rundown, rooms needed new carpets and décor was tired as was the outside

Thankyou for staying with us. I do apologise that our friendly staff were not able to assist you with your luggage to second level rooms. We do try to make ourselves available to assist where we can but perhaps this was during a very busy time of the evening. We have half of our rooms on the ground level and would be very pleased to talk with you and your guests in relation to booking these rooms in the future. Regards, Grant
