A motel rebranded as a Mercure

Pros: Reasonable value, good location, good room for the price
Cons: The service and outlook of staff
The hotel was convenient with two room doors, one leading into the hotel interior and the other accessible directly from the car park. As we checked in late and the reception was closed, we were able to use the rear entrance with a key the hotel left for us. The room was fine although some of the furniture upholstery was badly stained. Negatives were that breakfast was supposed to be served until 9:30 but when we entered the breakfast room at 9:08 the staff said that breakfast would shortly be closing and started moving tables around us at 9:20. We asked to stay in the same room (we had two separate bookings) and that was arranged - but with a "we managed to do it" outlook. We had a meal in the evening which was quite good, but was spoilt by the fact that the main course took some time to arrive - no problem with that - but then when we asked to order dessert we were told that the kitchen had closed. The staff did not think to tell us beforehand that the kitchen would be closing or that we should order our desserts earlier.

Lovely views from room.

Pros: Friendly staff, parking convenient, buffet breakfast was good value.
Had a spa room, was very spacious. Bed was firm and very comfortable. Pod coffee machine in room was bonus. Views over Newcastle to the sea from room was lovely.

great location

Pros: Clean, quiet, parking, views.
Cons: The desk chair
Location: Close to Newcastle, close to shopping centre, no traffic noise
Very quiet at hotel, easy parking, close to shopping, town. The staff very friendly and very professional. Great meals with variety to select from. I would certainly stay here again and recommend to friends. Desk chair needs replacing but room very spacious , clean and comfortable. Love the balcony with the view.

Convenient for where we needed to be

Pros: Easy to find and central for our visiting needs
Visiting Newcastle in extreme heat, it was nice to be able to get into our air conditioned room at a time prior to our engagement in Newcastle to rest out of the heat

Badly kept

In a bad spot under a phone tower, unkept and smells of mold. Pool is old and tiles falling off, badly presented staff with grounds people hanging in foyer, breakfast and halls. Won't choose this chain again??

Loved the place

I will be definitely staying again next visit to Newcastle. The whole place was amazing from the rooms, the view to the pool n spa to breakfast. Loved the place

Noise

Close to highway but quite. Plenty of car space. Staff all look happy and they work well together.

Close to work

After long Christmas hours this hotel was a great place to stay rather than drive back to the Central Coast. Staff were very attentive, although hotel is currently undergoing renovations the staff made up for any shortfalls

Non smoking even on outside balconies. Food expensive - $135 for a 2 night stay - 1 person.
