Very disappointing. I would have prefered to resolve issues - particularly following the difficult times the hospitality industry is trying to recover from -, rather than just leave a negative review, but this a hotel that does not answer the phone - either to me or the Hotels.com agent who initially tried to resolve the issue.
There was some renovation work going on in the bar area, which was closed, along with the restaurant. No problem, we just wanted to sleep. However, we had booked the optional breakfast and were asked what time we would like this served. All agreed, we were shown to our room. It was small but clean. There was no soap for handwashing, but we had our own shower gel and made do. The coffee making facilities were in the window-sill which meant that the curtains of our ground floor room needed to be open to make a drink. Good job they supplied dressing gowns!
In the morning there was nobody around. Literally. It seemed we were the only guests, and there were no staff, and no breakfast! We explored thoroughly, took some photos, and rang the phone number. The phone did ring on the table next to us, but no-one came to answer it and it did not redirect. We hung around for 20 minutes, then packed up and left to find breakfast in a supermarket restaurant. Since that time the phone has rung in it that eerie room .... but no-one has ever picked it up. Perhaps we booked a night on "most haunted.com".
