Great location; mediocre amenities

Posted 17-Jan-2017
Pros: Location, bar, pretty friendly staff.
Cons: Better room temperature control, fix important outlets like the one next to the bed, fix elevator buttons and lights.
Location: Near Times Square, if you're into that, and theater district. Some good restaurants around and good coffee and breakfast places. Easy to get a cab.
I like the "faded glory" aspect of this hotel and it's cheap. The bar is nice for people-watching and the waiters are friendly. But lots of things didn't work, like the plug next to the bed, the temperature controls, and some of the elevator call buttons and signals (says going up when going down). Wifi is spotty. Don't bother with the expensive, mediocre breakfast; there are plenty of better options near by. But for location and price, it's a good deal.

Love this hotel but....

Posted 17-Jan-2017
Wonderful hotel but this time our heater sounded like a sledge hammer hitting it every time it turned on. Everything else was fantastic. We love this old classic and will stay there again and again. It is clean. The staff is professional and had we called about the heater they would have been there.

it's a hotel that's great for the location only

Posted 15-Jan-2017
if you plan on a relaxing experience then this isn't the hotel for you. but if you're looking to get out and enjoy the city or be out of the hotel room for most of your stay then this is the place. it's close to so many landmarks and activities and within reasonable walking distance to everything you may wanna do while in NYC. i would basically describe it as a hotel exterior with a motel interior.

Paying 20$/day for amenities such as WiFi. Connection was unuseable. Upon arrival our room heater was stuck at maximum. The room felt like a sauna. We Had to wait 2hr for service man to arrive. Even after he stated it was not repairable, hotel staff was reluctant to place us into another room. Hotel was a total rip off.

Wonderful stay! Will definitely be back! Location was efficient, the hotel was beautiful/clean, and the staff was very welcoming! Everyone should let Mr. Eddie make you the best drinks in the city at the hotel bar!

My Husbands 60th!

Posted 13-Jan-2017
Pros: The over all feeling, the bar, the staff and restaurant.
Cons: explanation of WiFi situation.
Location: Everything in Midtown.. Moma and St Patrick's Cathedral and Paul Pizza around the corner!
We stayed here for my husbands 60th! and there was little snow storm , it was lovely! The hotel is a step back in time and so wonderful. Yes it is old and some times chilly in the room, slow elevators but, it is part of the charm. It is close to so many things! We loved it. The room was small but the bed was big and the room was clean. The maids were SO nice and helpful. My only compliant would be that the Wifi is not free and was explained to us when checked in. But not very thorough. We asked the girl at the desk to repeat her self several times but, she spoke so quickly and seemed in patient when i asked her clarify.. (so yes, one day is 15.95 for Wifi.) I think it is a great hotel for the price , location and overall environment!

Walk back in time NYC

Posted 13-Jan-2017
Pros: Lobby
Cons: Adjust the heat.
Location: Nice sandwich shop across the street. Walk to St. Patrick's.
Nice hotel in the Old New York Style ( I would imagine) Nicely appointed, plush carpets, very clean room. I enjoyed it. Due to the warmer than usual January weather the common areas, lobby, bars etc were overly warm and very uncomfortable. Other than that.. nice staff, great location. Good value.
