Tired but great location

Generally okay. Too few elevators in service. Great location. Tired and worn decor.

Disappointed!

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Pros: Great location but many other hotels in the area to choose from. Public spaces like the lobby really beautiful - wish the rooms were too.
Cons: Staff attitude, clean the rooms properly, fix plumbing and bathroom fans. All the rooms we had had poorly draining basins which were partially blocked
Location: Great location - the only positive! Walking distance to many great attractions like Times Square, Central Park, Broadway, Empire State building etc.
Old dated rooms, mouldy wallpaper. Had to change rooms 3 times to get a decent room and had to upgrade to be comfortable. Finally received a fridge once we upgraded despite several requests. Staff at front desk generally grumpy and rude when clients complained about something. Some doormen would not assist clients with baggage removal from their vehicles.

Terrible service and consistently rude and discou

The atrocious staff experience completely tarnished my hotel stay there. From the doorman to the night manager, there was a little satisfaction in any discourse with them.

Grand old hotel

Posted 23-Aug-2016
Cons: Elevators need work!
The Roosevelt was recommended to me by a friend. The hotel is nice enough - rooms were clean, staff were very courteous and helpful. Vintage elevators (only 4 of 6 were working) added considerable frustration to an otherwise pleasant stay. Location is quite central but it is a 20 minute walk (or longer in the heat) to get to Times Square and theatres.

Took way too long to catch the lift

Posted 23-Aug-2016
The room size good. It would take at least 15-20mins every time you wanted to use the lift both going up and down. Some of the staff on reception were not helpful at all. For a simple question they would always refer you onto someone else.

THE ELEVATORS - THE ELEVATORS!!!

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: The location
Cons: Just about everything.
The room was tiny, cramped - just large enough for the bed. But who cared - one had a difficult time reaching the room because the elevators were the worst ever experienced in any hotel, anywhere. Five of which only three 'worked' - sort of!

We loved this hotel. Excellent location. Close to everything! The elevators were a bit slow but we were never in a rush so it wasnt a problem.

Convenience is the key. Good central location. Price is good.
