Smaller hotel around the corner off Times Square
Two major issues at The Premier Times Square Hotel - rude staff with attitude and lack of cleanliness in the room. Staff at Front Desk and in Breakfast Room clearly lacks training and service orientation. You feel like disturbing Morning FO staff (still chewing on breakfast) and being told off if you have a problem. Evening FO staff on private telephone conversation. Breakfast staff - no good morning, no smile, no small talk - nothing. Staff turns back on you and watches TV or reads newspaper. Starts clearing buffet at 9:45 AM.
Housekeeping - aircon cover in room blackened, bathroom - shower + toilet ok, but lamps on mirror covered in dust, have never been cleaned, thick layer of dust also on top of mirror. Supporting feet of wash table completely dirty.
Positive surprises: Barman during Happy Hour and Morning Bellman - both very friendly and cheerful.
You can deal with so called "hardware" problems - i.e. chipped and dated furniture in breakfast room, thin walls and elevator noise - but rudeness and arrogant attitude of staff is simply unacceptable for any kind of hotel, even in NYC.
Unfortunately, the above are reasons enough for me not to return to this hotel.
