They are renovating their lobby, but the temporary lobby was perfectly fine and there wasn't any noise. Look forward to visiting again in the future to see the results!

I loved our queen bedroom suite at this property. It was spacious and perfect for traveling with children! Having a kitcheonette was a huge plus. I would definitely stay here again.

For New York, our room with two double beds was the largest we've ever had! The main lobby was under construction, but they didn't miss a beat. Comfy beds, a refrigerator and microwave, coffee maker, nice bathroom, and a credit for snack purchase. Great, friendly staff. Highly recommended!

The staff is so lovely and accommodating, the location is ideal, close to mass transit and very walkable with so many restaurants close by. I loved having a little kitchenette that was well appointed. The room was comfortable and large by New York City standard

The Benjamin Royal Sonesta is in a great location in Midtown East. You are a couple minute walk to multiple subway stations which makes it very easy to get around NYC. The staff at the desk were very friendly and always helped us out very quickly. When we arrived we wanted an extra sheet and pillow and they had them in the room when we returned. It is an older hotel but we loved it. It was clean and we loved having a refrigerator, a sink and microwave in the room. A king sized bed was also very nice in NYC. When we left we dropped our bags and they scheduled our black suv to take us to the airport. Everyone was always very nice. We would highly recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

My four-night stay at Benjamin Sonesta in New York was largely positive. Currently under renovation, the hotel’s aged look is being refreshed. The highlight was the spacious one-bedroom suite with a functional kitchenette, accommodating four but equipped for two. Customer service was excellent, though the front desk staff, while efficient, lacked a personal touch and occasionally engaged in laughter post-guest interactions, which could be off-putting. The room’s design had its quirks, like a toilet flush hidden under the countertop and a toilet seat that wouldn’t stay up, minor yet noticeable. Despite being on the 9th floor, noise was minimal, although water pipes showed signs of air bubbles and noise. The gym was well-equipped, a plus point. The daily $10 snack and water allowance was appreciated, but the $50 daily resort charge felt excessive given the absence of typical resort amenities like a restaurant or pool. In essence, Benjamin Sonesta offers a comfortable, if not luxurious, stay in a spacious setting. It’s suitable for those looking for ample room space and a central location, though some aspects, like certain customer service elements, could be improved.

Some of the lobby is being renovated but they came up with a good workaround. The entrance is on Lexington temporarily, but doesn’t feel like a construction site. Very friendly staff!

Checked in very late at nite but it took over 10 minutes just to get the room key. Front desk person not very friendly and actually rude. Same person duty next morning at 7 when I checked out and her attitude hadn’t changed. Not even one smile. Not the right person greeting guests!!

Dirty Clipped Toenails on the Carpet
We checked in to our 1-bedroom suite and our 16-month-old daughter discovered dirty, clipped toenails all over the carpet in the main living room left by the previous guest. Obviously the room was never vacuumed between the previous guest’s checkout and our family’s check-in. We had pre-paid for a 5-night stay - paying approximately $630 per night. Despite the fact that our planned 5-night reservation was non-refundable, we checked out the very next morning and moved across town to a clean hotel. When I explained why we were checking out after being at The Benjamin less than 16 hours, the Benjamin representative offered no apologies - instead he just replied “Okay.” I also requested a call from the property manager to discuss the matter. To date, I have yet to receive a courtesy call from management at The Benjamin as requested. It seems quite obvious that room cleanliness and guest satisfaction are not concerns shared by either Benjamin Hotel staff or management. I will never be staying at another Royal Sonesta property in the future and I certainly plan to share my horrible Benjamin Hotel experience with anyone I know traveling to NYC to make sure they choose a different hotel. There are far too many other good hotel choices in NYC to waste your money at this hostel.

Misleading information about the hotel: I chose this hotel over many other for location, Spa, Pool, Parking and restaurant. The only amenity that was actually available is the parking which turned out to not have in and out privileges. They did not charge my car like they said they would. That made the commute home difficult. That was frustrating. The room size was great for my family needs. The bed linens on the sofa bed had to be changed twice due to stains already on the sheets. All of the linens looked worn. There was dust on the shelves, top of the fridge, and top of the cabinets. The wallpaper in the unit was peeling back around the windows. The overall décor looked basic and worn. I expected a lot more for $700 a night.

The rooms were big and comfy. We had a small issue at check-in as they forgot extra bedding for the pull out couch but it was solved quickly

This is a small, old hotel. The facilities, rooms and bathrooms are not clean and in dire need of updating. Would say it’s a 2 star hotel. The staff were friendly, and the location is great, but the overall experience would not have me recommend this place or be back again.
