Not a hotel for families with children.

Posted 08-Nov-2015
This hotel has clean, but affordable and tiny rooms. However, in their attempt to be "avant garde" the halls and lobby are decorated with photos that can best be described as "soft porn meets Venice carnival." Combined with the black and white decor it gives the place the look and feel of a cheap or sleazy bachelors pad. We were so happy we had not booked this place for one of our family trips to NYC and that our young kids were not with us.

Not what promised

Posted 30-Oct-2015
Pros: It was next to Times Square!
I reserved for a city view but mine window was opened to another long building. I asked to change but was told this is what it is. Also, I asked for second night, the price was almost double what I paid for first night and there was no intimacy.

Sentralt hotell i New York

Posted 08-Oct-2015

The room was really small and had a creaky floor. The bathroom was super tight as well. It was just pretty uncomfortable and cramped.

Hip, clean, comfortable, convenient

Posted 18-Aug-2015
Pros: We were very comfortable and secure, right in the part of town we wanted, without spending a fortune. It took all the stress out of a jaunt to NYC.
Location: TKTS is just around the block if you want to try for last-minute theatre tickets. Restaurants and theaters all within easy walking distance.
It was just what we wanted -- a hip, clean, comfortable, convenient place to stay that didn't cost a fortune for a quick theatre weekend. Our room looked exactly like the online photo. Walked to the theatre, Restaurant Row, Times Square, had a lot of fun and no hassles. I read one online review that complained that the room was small -- well come on, at these rates you're not going to get a suite! There was even an iron and ironing board in the room so I could touch up my shirt before the theatre. A great place to perch. We'll be back!

Hotel staff enter room at 3am: No knock, No leave

Posted 13-Aug-2015 on Hotels
Most everything about the stay was good- until 3am in the morning, when a man opened the door, entered my room- WITHOUT KNOCKING! I asked him who he was and what he wanted. He said he worked at the hotel and the room shows as empty- Clearly he could see that the room was occupied, lights on, etc. I Said he was mistaken, and asked why he was standing in my room- he asked me to call the front desk- but he didn't leave the room- I couldn't as the phone near the bed had no dialtone when picking up receiver- I said I'd call from the bathroom phone, but pointed out that I was naked on my bed, and asked him to PLEASE LEAVE the room and CLOSE the door so I could have privacy. He did not. Subsequently, after calling the front desk, I went down with room key, reservation #, etc- and asked them to call the police. THEY REFUSED TO CALL THE POLICE! I had to walk to the Times Square NYPD substation to get assistance. Upon return, the two night staff only made excuses about wanting to help another guest who couldn't sleep. DON'T STAY HERE. What if it was my elderly mother or young daughter in the room that this happened to instead? A man entering the room with his pass key without knocking, refusing to leave, refusing to summon the police to take a report? UNACCEPTABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL, INEXCUSABLE.
