Clean hotel at a great downtown location

Posted 16-Nov-2017
Pros: Location, helpful staff
Cons: Heat was too loud. Cannot sleep with that noise! Must add some amenities like cutips, slippers, toothpaste etc.
Enjoyed very much staying at Hotel Hugo. The rooms are quite small (though very clean), but the location is really good. If you enjoy downtown, everything is 10-min walking distance. Staff was very helpful. The heat is VERY loud! And for such a hotel, i'd expect to see some amenities like toothpaste, cutips, hotel slippers etc. Overall quite happy with the experience, definitely worth the pay, would definitely stay again.

Very expensive. Room was nice, but very small. Customer Service was less-than-ideal. Bugs in room.

Nice hotel close to great walking neighbourhood

Posted 13-Nov-2017
Pros: Neighbourhood
Cons: Smell in lobby- a pleasant smell by way too strong
Location: Great restaurants, shops and café and great running/walking/biking path by water
Small room but clean. On a factory lined street but very close to great restaurants and café and small shops. Very close to water where there is a great path for walking.

Cons: upstairs bar staff
Location: excellent location
Very noisy hotel. Beautiful bar upstairs but loud and service was terrible. Great for a younger vibe... Front desk staff were excellent.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

Posted 13-Oct-2017
The lobby when you walk in looks amazing. Staff was okay, but not above and beyond. The rooms look like an outdated yacht. Just okay. Room was clean and mini bar had a great selection. Plugs do not hold charge well. My main issue is turning on the shower. You cannot prevent getting wet by freezing cold water. There is a glass fake door that does not move so you must go inside the shower, underneath the shower head to start it which caused me to be soaked. I wasn’t able to turn the handle to hot because of the shock so I had to enter again into the freezing water to change the temperature. Awful design. Also bathroom tiling and painting is horribly done and looks cheap. The vanity table needs light at it otherwise useless and becomes a shelf. So basically there are a lot of little things that add up so I will not be staying here again. I would rather stay at Kimpton Hotels for the same price.

Ordinary hotel at top price - hard to get to.

Posted 30-Sep-2017
Disappointed we couldn't get into top floor bar....no guest only area. Bed lamp collapsed in our hands. All on-room supplies grossly over priced. Very hard to get to, even by very expensive taxi.

Great rooftop terrace and location

Posted 18-Sep-2017
Pros: The rooftop terrace. The location. The quiet room. The bathroom was nice.
Cons: Rooms too small. Furniture quite old and outdated. Include shower caps at the very least.
Location: Great location in The Village. Plenty to do and see within walking distance.
What you are paying for in this hotel is the rooftop terrace and its location. That's it. The rest is mediocre at best. The furniture was dated. The room was minuscule. There wasn't even a shower cap. The room is dark because it faces an area surrounded by tall buildings. The advantage of that is that the room was very quiet. For the price at least the breakfast should be included.

Boutique hotel

Small rooms. Elevator is very slow especially in the early evening when non residents line up to go to the roof top terrace. Staff are friendly and courteous.

Good Location

Posted 04-Sep-2017
Pros: Location, rooftop bar
Cons: Larger rooms would be great if possible.
This hotel is in West SOHO. Corner of Greenwich Street & Spring. The hotel is nice, however the rooms are very small. The staff is friendly and they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine on our first night, which was quite nice. Tribeca is a few blocks away which is very quite and has some nice quaint restaurants. SOHO shopping is a ten minute walk and you are in the middle of everything. Greenwich Village is close by as well, which has a variety of restaurants and places to visit. Lovely streets for a quiet walk at night. You sometimes forget you are in Manhattan.

Hello Shalini, - Thank you for sharing your thoughts of your stay at Hotel Hugo. It is wonderful to know you enjoyed our location and staff. As for the room size, I am sorry they were not to your liking. As you may know NYC hotels are restricted with space. We have filled the rooms with some awesome decor to help make up for that. Furthermore, our rooms are no smaller than any other NYC hotel. Overall, we are grateful you had a great stay and enjoyed your time with us. We appreciate your review and look forward to seeing you again.
