The Hugo Always treats me well

Posted 19-Apr-2017
Pros: Staff, location, rooftop bar
Cons: Elevators are incredibly slow
Location: Short walk to Tribeca, West Village, a bit longer walk to East Village - great bars and restaurants all over the area
Very friendly and helpful staff. For NYC the rooms are a decent size with (for me) very comfortable beds, and with a bathroom that is not like a small closet common in NYC (nice shower, vanity/sink area).

Great hotel and customer service!

Posted 02-Apr-2017
Great location close to the subway, we arrived around 2 pm, check in was easy. The cafe is nice, the food is above average for a hotel. Lovely rooftop bar with great happy hour. The rooms are a good size for NYC standards. The staff is accomodating and cordial, and we got a free bottle of prosseco as an Expedia VIP perk!!! We will definitly be going back!

Great location!

Loved the proximity to Soho, West Village and downtown area. Rooftop bar is perfect for a drink after a long day of sightseeing. Awesome night view of the Hudson! Had a great deejay on Friday night and a Cuban band on Sunday. Go early or reserve a table with a view. Staff was friendly. Rooms very clean. Super comfy beds!

Not for the business traveler

Posted 27-Mar-2017
Pros: Staff was nice for the most part and they accepted packages delivered at no extra charge. The gym was small but you can get a good workout.
Stayed at this hotel due to proximity to SoHo. In reality this is misleading as SoHo is about a 20-25 minute walk. It is somewhat near the subway but it is not the most convenient line if you are trying to get to midtown or Brooklyn. Staff is friendly enough. My double room was very small but had a nice view. There is absolutely no drawer space. They do provide a small closet and a safe. Beds are not the most comfortable – definitely not what you expect by the hotel rating. The hotel is located by a UPS distribution facility and it can get very noisy especially at night-time. Even though they have thick windows the room was loud even at the 14th floor. My room had not been properly cleaned when I checked in. The hardwood floors are good in that they do not hide dirt well so it was easy to tell that it had not been properly cleaned. The room overall was dusty (blinds, window sill, night table). The bathroom seemed clean until I showered: there was hair in the drain trap which caused water to rise! Disgusting! The hotel overall seems to cater to a very young international crowd and it seems they do not have good control on the amount of guests per room. There was a fully stocked mini bar aside from the mini fridge on top of my desk which took over most of the desk so I had it removed. There were also 6 liquor bottles on top of the safe in the closet that I also had removed due to lack of space. Seems to be a party hotel which is not what I was looking for. I stayed 5 nights and

Never been treated better than this adorable hotel

Posted 06-Feb-2017
Cons: The rooms are on the small side, but its NYC not much can be done about that. They did make the most of the limited space.
The staff was amazing. The front desk made a number of calls to local restaurants to accommodate our large last minute group. The rooftop bar had amazing views. The rooms were cute, 5/5 would recommend.

Good value

Comfortable and chick. Not the best street but quiet and close enough to the soho and village.

Beautifully designed hotel in a great neighborhood

Everything was beautiful I enjoyed all the amenities, however the room is a little tight. I hit my shin on the edge of the bed at least twice trying to maneuver. I wish the website stated that the bar on the 18Th floor was under construction. I was looking forward to going there however the happy hour on the first floor was nice.
