Pros: Linens, staff
Location: Nicely located on E. 31st.
Nice hotel, but be prepared for a very small room. Linens and towels were high quality.

Hotel Chandler

Posted 15-May-2017
Pros: The staff are always happy to help and nothing was any trouble
Cons: The cost of the drinks in the lobby, my husband and i always love to finish the night off in the hotel bar but this was too expensive.
Location: The hotel is situated near the empire state , but have to say the location is great for where you want to go.
The hotel was recommended to us and we were not disappointed check-in was simple, reception always helpful and happy we could not have asked for a nicer experience for our first trip to NYC we will definitely be back and stay at the hotel. Our one and only downside was that we were told that it was a flat rate to the airport from your porters but we were disappointed that it cost us $95.

Nice but small and so dark

Very professional helpful staff. Room very nice but extremely small. The hotel is so dark and lifeless on the lobby floor.

Perfect for our needs.

Decent sized room in a great location, with an interesting view out of our window. As I would imagine with most people who visit New York for the first time we didn’t spend much time in the room but when we did we found it comfortable and clean. People always say hotel rooms in New York are to small but I found our room to be of a decent size. There was some construction work going on down below but New York is so loud anyway it was difficult to differentiate between this and other background noise. If you want somewhere quiet I would suggest a different city ;) The staff where very friendly and helpful every time we needed them and looked after our bags after we checked out on the last day. Overall, we had the perfect trip and enjoyed every second of it, and I feel having a nice place to come back to after long days out and about certainly helped.

No way this is 4.5 stars!

Total disappointment. I arrive after a long day, check in and go to my room. Strange odor in the hall. It is the smallest hotel room I have ever seen. I open the door, the bed and door almost meet. Not only that, the carpet has multiple brown stains on it, the phone does not work, the room is dusty and lamp shade looks like it has been sat on...smoothed back out and replaced back on the lamp. I grabbed my things went back the lobby and request a room change. They "upgraded" me. I go back to the same floor, 5th floor, to be hit by the same strange odor in the hallway. I open the door. Only one stain on the carpet. Room has been dusted. Lamp shade still crumpled but less than the other one. Bathroom has a nice color combo wuthering relatively new tile. A bit of a damp, mildewy smell. Cool, I can deal with this. I take a nap to be awaken by the sound of what seems to be water...pipes. Cool. Old building and someone is taking a shower next door. Maybe just flushed the toilet. NOPE! The sound goes on for quite a while. I get up to find it is the air conditioner trying to kick on. No worries, I just tell the hotel staff. Leave for the night. Inform them about the air conditioner. Wake up next morning, leave for the day, come back, no air conditioning. Hmmm. Leave the next day, come back inform them, they'll send someone up, no show-no call, no air conditioning. Needless to say, no air conditioning the whole entire stay. I will not return to this hotel.

Great location, we'll kept.

There was only one negative, the air con wasn't working in April as they hadn't had it serviced early in the year, not expecting 29 degrees C! The room was therefore stuffy and hard to sleep in for 2 nights. Once temperature dropped, the air con coped. It will be fine in the summer (they usually have it serviced in early May I am assured). This really was the only negative, great hotel, great location, helpful staff, clean room. Good processing considering all of those things!

Great Location and friendly staff

Hotel Chandler was perfect for our short stay in NY. The rooms were small but adequate and the location was perfect. Best of all was the friendly staff! Nothing was a problem.

Small rooms but nice boutique hotel. The only inconvenient at the moment was that they had construction outside it was kinda loud but other wise everything else was ok.

Thank you so much for providing your review. In regards to the construction noise, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience and although it is not something that is related directly with the hotel and it's out of our control, I understand how this can be bothering you. Please note that we also have some rooms facing the interior courtyard of our hotel that can be quiet and away from street and construction noise. Feel free to contact us directly in the future should you plan to visit us again and it will be our pleasure to help you find a room that will better suite your needs.
