Just normal

Posted 15-Mar-2017
Okay, so here is the funny thing. I booked a deluxe king size room, and I told the front desk that I want a upper level room, the "gentleman" told me that would charge me $30/per night with upper level room with a good city view with double beds, so total is $90, and I said okay. When I got the room with the "nice city view" I regretted , so I back to front desk said I don't want that room please give me the original one that I booked. And she put me at 28th floor with not bad city view. So I don't know why they charged $30/per night for just one floor distance. ( even they returned the money after that)

Mismanaged hotel

Posted 07-Mar-2017
Good location and potentially good stay. However, the hotel is understaffed and mismanaged. It takes 45 mins to get anything from the room service (even a toothbrush). We had change room because somebody was smoking some heavy drugs upstairs. On very last night, another traveller walked into our room at midnight as the front desk gave him the same room as ours. As you can imagine this was quite frightening for us. Until the hotel increases its staff, it's a bit risky and bad

Long weekend in Manhattan

Posted 07-Mar-2017
Pros: Convenience and the restaurant.
Location: We walked to many local sites and restaurants with ease. New Yorkers were very friendly
My wife and I decided to spend a long weekend in Manhattan to getaway. Our experience of NYC was absolutely wonderful. We really enjoyed the food and also the One World Trade Observatory. We would highly recommend staying at the Hyatt not only for convenience but also the excellent restaurant.

New furnishings stylish but impractical

Posted 23-Feb-2017
Pros: Location, cleanliness and efficient staff.
Cons: Room furnishings could be much better thought out.
Location: Next to Grand Central station and in walking distance of many NYC attractions.
I've stayed at this hotel many times over the past 15 years. The location is great and the price is very competitive for the class of hotel and service. Grand Central station provides quick access to everywhere. The latest remodeling included a bunch of hard edged new furniture and bathroom fixtures which look good, but were poorly thought out. The bath room trash can, for example is so large compared to the room that there really is no place to put it without blocking the door or the sink. The couch in the room was blocked by a massive oval marble table which made it hard to get to and from the bed. There are two large storage cabinet/dresser type pieces, but no desk. Whoever did the detailed interior design work didn't do their job properly.

Great location in NYC

Posted 22-Feb-2017
Pros: Location, restaurants/bars nearby, close to theater district.
Cons: The rooms could use some slight updates due to wear & tear.
Location: Next to Grand Central, walking distance to Times Square, New York Public Library & 5th Avenue.
My wife and stayed here for the 1st time during our recent trip to NYC (we usually stay in Lower Manhattan) and were pleased with our stay. the check in was easy, the staff was friendly and the location next to Grand Central is awesome. The room itself was nice (not too much noise due to our room facing away from 42nd Street), the bed was a little firm and the pillows were way too soft for my taste. Our sink seemed to have a drainage issue that was fixed by housekeeping during our stay even though we didn't bring it up. The hotel bar is open until 2am and the staff there were very friendly & accommodating with a range of drink & menu items for the late night crowd. Would definitely stay there again if we were doing a quick NYC trip again.

Right next to central station

Posted 19-Feb-2017
You pretty much pay for the location of the hotel. I have used the hyatt for many of my vacations around the US but this one mlfave a bad name to the rest of them. When I first booked I was told my room would have a queen bed with a pull out couch, when I arrived I was told my loft has a pull out couch for me to sleep on. Now why would I pay so much to sleep on a pull out couch. Room service is ridiculously expensive. We ordered a side of fries that were $9 the hotel charged me an extra $12 to take me the fries up to my room. Then every time we would enter the hotel we would get asked for our room key and the white people around never got asked once, keep in mind we have 2 rooms booked over our trip ,a deluxe room which we had to upgrade and also the pent house. The only friendly Staff I saw while my entire week stay at the Hyatt was one of the housekeepers. 1 full week. For the price we paid this stay was definitely not worth it..the only thing that was worth the place of the hotel was the fact it is right next to central station. Other than that don't bother. Spend your money at a different hotel.

Disappointed

Posted 19-Feb-2017
The room is old and simplely funished. Empty refrigerator, no tea-maker, no water bottles. Though I booked "city view" room, there is a tiny window facing another high building, no view at all.
