Only one drawback

Posted 23-Nov-2015
Great hotel. We Loved the self closing blinds that operated with a gentle tug. The Room was spotless (though one of the comforters was stained). My husband and boys loved the tv screen located in the bathroom's Mirror. I thought the jacuzzi-like tub was a nice touch as well. This hotel has a Great location that is within easy walking distance of so many attractions and easy access to the subway. There were several great restaurants located just yards from the hotel as well as a Starbucks right across the street. My family would rate this a 5-star experience if it wasn't for the lack of room service. Let me explain. While there is a restaurant at the hotel, it is a separate entity from the hotel. Therefore, if you want something to eat, you must go down to the restaurant and order it (though it will be delivered for you to your room). Great menu but no dessert. Unbeknownst to us, We met the owner of the hotel as we entered the elevator and he was very congenial and respectful. Overall this was a great place for our family to stay for a long weekend as we visited family in the city. We would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be staying there again.

Pros: well appointed guest room and bathroom
Cons: Check-in is freaky. Throwback to Wizard of Oz ''pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" thing. A hotel with no recept'n desk? Trending in NYC?
Location: Great location; central but not throbbing with noise like mid-town. Great restaurants and bars in the immediate neighborhood.
On business; needed a good clean room with wifi in a decent hotel at a decent price in a central location south of mid-town. This hotel was walking distance from Penn Station or Grand Central.

Great location, an unusual hotel

Posted 22-Oct-2015
Pros: Shower was great as well as the TV in the bathroom - rooms seemed well sound proofed as barely heard anything from next door.
Cons: Add a reception desk to the left as you enter - would give a better first impression.
Location: Great location, walking distance up to Empire State building as well as down to Greenwich village area - also close to subway for further distances.
I was a little disappointed with the hotel overall, room was very small and a little dated. No reception desk, just a podium so not a great first impression. Live music was a little too loud to enjoy with a quiet drink. Windows were very drafty so definitely needed the heating on overnight! Every request we made - extra towels and coffee etc was met with a pleasant acknowledgement and a speedy response. Location was great, head across to 8th street and down for a great selection of restaurants, away from the touristy stuff. The shower and tv in the bathroom were great features but not quite enough to make up for the other lacking features.

Not recommended

Pros: Location and shower.
Initial impressions were good of this hotel and check in was easy, but it went down hill after that. The problems were as follows: 1) Bed really uncomfortable (far too firm). 2) Mattress was on a wooden base but slipped around, so caught my leg on it in the morning (left with a bruise). 3) Private party in reception area which was like walking into a nightclub and music so loud the staff couldn't hear me. 4) Charged for mini bar which I didn't use or even open the door for and a resort fee. Both were sorted out but they shouldn't have been included in the first place. On the whole, though, there are lot better hotels in New York for less money so would not recommend.

Great Location, Great Staff, Great Room

Posted 06-Oct-2015
Pros: All the employees, the room decor, the high tech amenities in the room, the location, and the options for drinks, food, and entertainment onsite.
Cons: N/A
Location: Location is excellent. Nearby are many restaurants, bars, Bourbon bar, shopping, 5th Avenue, 6th Avenue, Broadway.
Location is perfect, as it is very close to 6th Avenue, 5th Avenue, and Broadway...makes getting cabs extremely easy. Many good restaurants within easy walking distance. Room was well appointed and comfortable. Many high tech items in room. Was offered drink in the Living Room upon arrival. All employees that we had contact with were exceptionally helpful and very nice. Had no issues with anything in the room. There are several places to have a drink (main level and rooftop) and a restaurant. I will definitely consider this boutique hotel when I return to NYC, as my son has begun attending NYU.

Zentral gelegenes kleines Hotel

Posted 05-Sep-2015
Pros: Super Lage, gute Betten, schöne Dusche
Cons: Fenster im Hotel sollten ausgetauscht werden. Teilweise laut! !!
Etliche Frühstücksmöglichkeiten in unmittelbarer Nähe.

The hotel was situated at a very convenient location, we walked everywhere! One thing though that was not mentioned to us upon check-in, parking is not free and only offerred at a discounted rate.. I guess we missed that and was surprised at the end ofour stay when we took the vehickes out of the parking garage.
