Nice hotel by Madison Square Park

Posted 05-Dec-2017
Pros: I loved the location of the hotel. I enjoyed eating at nearby restaurants and walking around Madison Square Park. I loved the room and the bathroom.
Cons: The staff could be a little more professional and maybe dress better or have uniforms. The room windows should be cleaned. A mini fridge would be cool
Location: Madison Square Park and enjoy a nice burger and shake at the Shake Shack. The BBQ restaurant is AMAZING! The Japanese restaurant next door is super!
I loved my stay at the Flatiron Hotel. I had an excellent time during my stay. The staff was friendly, attentive of my needs, and resolved everything quickly. The room was just how I pictured it and everything was amazing despite the fact that I stayed during the Thanksgiving weekend. The environment at the hotel was nice and relaxing and the beds were super comfortable. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

Good location

The location is great, but it is an old hotel, therefore the conditions reflect that.

Outdated hotel, good location

Posted 04-Dec-2017
Pros: Breakfast, staff
Cons: Complete renovation
Location: Location is great, in the flatiron district. Close to many shops/restaurants and the empire state building.
Unfortunately I was very disappointed with this hotel because it's nothing like the pictures. Hotel feels like it was a beautiful, 5-star hotel back in the 1980's but nothing has been updated since then. Carpets are old, drapes were dirty, windows are so old that we had to crank up the heat from the breeze coming through the cracks. If you want to see the beautiful view out of the corner room that you pay extra for, you really can't because windows are covered with years of all kinds of dirt. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Too noisy

Posted 01-Dec-2017
The windows allow lots of noise in from the streets even on the 9th floor. Just too noisy.

Reasonably priced, spacious room & friendly staff

Posted 21-Nov-2017
The Flatiron Hotel was a pleasant surprise. We decided to try it because of the location. It's close to the flea market, subway & bus stops and a lovely park. The manager and every staff member that we encountered was friendly, cheerful and accommodating. Our room was larger than most NYC rooms in that price range. The bathroom was larger too and the vanity offered enough counter space for toiletries, hair dryer etc. We didn't use the tv embedded in the bathroom mirror but it is a cool feature if you enjoy tv. We asked for a fridge and they sent one up right away for a very modest charge ($10 I think for our 5 night stay). It was one of the small cube ones but it was prefect to keep beverages and snacks cold. We were surprised at how quiet the hotel was at night considering we were in a corner room facing Broadway & 26th st. Our room was clean, the beds were comfy and there were plenty of outlets for charging electronics. There was a well hidden safe in our room. If you can't find it, just ask at the desk..... very clever. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. Thanks for everything Flatiron!

was the worst experience I ever had

Posted 17-Nov-2017
in the first room we were assigned the AC was set at a freezing temperature (52) in New York winter and this could not be fixed, so they changed the room, it took forever for them to find another room, the new room was still a very cold 65 F room, but was much better compared with 52F...yet this time shower was not working!!! the ultra high-tech looking shower was out of order!! what a disappointing experience! from the reactions of the hotel staff, it was obvious that they were used to getting lots of complaints from every guest, so seems like they are doing their best under the circumstances...for such a dismal situation, the room was extremely overpriced. Even basic amenities were totally lacking.

Great location

smallest shower ever! But clean and ok for me... wonder how large people manage, similar in size to cruise ship showers. Room was very nice. Great location for the little bit of sightseeing I did.

Good low-cost option for a NYC visit.

Posted 15-Nov-2017
Pros: The staff is very friendly and attentive to one's needs
Cons: Install safety handholds in shower stall and provide visual instructions for all the knobs.
Location: Central to shopping and transportation
The front desk staff is very attentive. Breakfast was included, but nothing to write home about. Carpet in room looked like it needed to be cleaned or replaced. Space-age bathroom shower was not easy to figure out and overhead showerhead will soak your hair, even when not wanted. There are also no safety handholds in shower, which can be a problem with slick flooring.
