Not a grand experience
We had a room on 29th Floor - specified as grand double room with view. Well it had a view and two double beds but it wasn’t remotely Grand. The room was really only for one person not two, there was inadequate closet space and one desk chair, the room could be called cosy for 2 people if you were being kind or cramped if you were being accurate. Of the 4 nights we were there the toilet overflowed on two separate occasions. The engineer said they had been having trouble with it for a month and it would probably have to be taken out. So it seems we were actually knowingly put in a substandard room. The room furniture was well worn, so don’t take the airbrushed pics on their website as gospel. They have two lifts which are used by both guests and staff so it can take a considerable time to get where you want to be. That’s the bad;
Now the good - The staff, particularly the front desk are very friendly and they got the engineer to us very quickly once we reported the toilet problem. The view from the room was great particularly at night. The in room coffee machine was a god send and the turn down service left us chocolates each night.
Overall I think the hotel staff are let down by the fabric of the hotel, but its still poor value for money and I would not go back to it
