Poor service in areas

Posted 24-May-2017
We experienced very poor customer service in both the bar and the hotel restaurant. The staff was either rude or totally ignored us. The food was not great. One evening we ordered a Cesar salad and it was horrible. Other items were mediocure at best. Other areas in the hotel were very good like housekeeping and the guys handling the luggage who also hooked us up with a great driver when leaving for the airport. Room was comfortable and overall clean.

Close proximity

Pros: Location, location, location
Well situated on the edged of Times Square. This location was walking distance to Times Square, restaurants, Central Park and tour bus stops. Restaurant inside the hotel was also good.

Great location

Standard room is older, especially noticeable in the bathroom. Great location in Time Square for shopping and eating and getting around. Would stay again in upgraded room with view.

Convenient to attractions

Posted 19-May-2017
Pros: Location. Nice bar area. Beds were extremely comfortable.
Cons: Front desk staff were not particularly pleasant or helpful. Room checkout time was extended but not information on additional charges.
Location: Most NY attractions are close by. Found a great piano bar with awesome entertainment by the staff - Don't Tell Mama! Well worth a visit.
Convenient to most attractions. Room was comfortable. The pool was pretty much unusable for the normal guest. Not allowed in without a cap...who brings a swimming cap on vacation to a hotel pool???

Nice hotel, great location. Spacious rooms.

Posted 17-May-2017
This is a nice hotel in a great location. Steps from Broadway shows, restaurants and shopping, staying in the heart of Times Square is tons of fun. Hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Room service and the hotel bar were also very nice. The rooms were spacious with plenty of room to spread out. We had great views of the Hudson, the City and even Times Square. We would recommend staying here.

Terrible dirty tourist trap

Posted 17-May-2017
Pros: Nothing. This hotel had no redeeming qualities.
Cons: Literally any change made would be an improvement.
Location: All of the standard Times Square things to do are available.
Emailed the hotel a few weeks in advance to ask for a "quieter room". Was given a room as close to the very loud elevators and also beside the even louder elevator mechanical room. The room had an adjoining door with the hotel room next door that allowed my family to listen to the very intoxicated Russian gentlemen beside us for most of the night. At about 2 AM the pipes in the ceiling started knocking loudly enough to drown out all of the other noises for the next six hours. In twenty years of traveling I have never experienced such a horrible hotel. The material on the bed headboards was torn and should have been replaced years ago. The bathtub was so chipped it was unusable. The cleaners literally scream at each other in Spanish the entire time they clean the suites forcing the entire floor to listen to them for hours every afternoon. The hotel has no doorman at the front door but what it does have is a half dozen very aggressive and unsavory men standing literally 2-3 feet from the door who will start yelling at you, demanding money from you or trying to hand you CD's (don't take the CD's). There are a lot of tourist traps in the area but this hotel has taken the tourist trap concept to a level that puts the chain restaurants and souvenir shops to shame. The staff are rude and unprofessional, the hotel is worn and dirty the noise from inside the hotel is terrible and it's clear that the hotel never expects anyone to stay here more then once.

Pros: Staff helpfulness and location.
Cons: A mini fridge or microwave in room or nearby in a lounge area.
Location: In Times Square so access to many theaters, restaurants. Convenient location to transportation (subway, taxis, etc.)
The staff was extremely helpful from check-in to getting taxis. Very accommodating and knowledgeable. Would definetely stay there again.
