Terrible dirty tourist trap
Emailed the hotel a few weeks in advance to ask for a "quieter room". Was given a room as close to the very loud elevators and also beside the even louder elevator mechanical room. The room had an adjoining door with the hotel room next door that allowed my family to listen to the very intoxicated Russian gentlemen beside us for most of the night. At about 2 AM the pipes in the ceiling started knocking loudly enough to drown out all of the other noises for the next six hours.
In twenty years of traveling I have never experienced such a horrible hotel. The material on the bed headboards was torn and should have been replaced years ago. The bathtub was so chipped it was unusable. The cleaners literally scream at each other in Spanish the entire time they clean the suites forcing the entire floor to listen to them for hours every afternoon.
The hotel has no doorman at the front door but what it does have is a half dozen very aggressive and unsavory men standing literally 2-3 feet from the door who will start yelling at you, demanding money from you or trying to hand you CD's (don't take the CD's).
There are a lot of tourist traps in the area but this hotel has taken the tourist trap concept to a level that puts the chain restaurants and souvenir shops to shame. The staff are rude and unprofessional, the hotel is worn and dirty the noise from inside the hotel is terrible and it's clear that the hotel never expects anyone to stay here more then once.
