Expensive hotel with no internet

Posted 18-Sep-2017
Pros: Not much
Cons: Good quality internet & better tv system.
Location: Excellent centra location
Very few tv stations and no news stations. Internet was very weak and did not provide access. Too many steps to get to lobby on 2 no floor.

Room was very small, one side of bed was so close to wall made very difficult to get in with climbing in from the bottom.

Great Staff

Posted 12-Sep-2017
Pros: Great Staff
Cons: Bigger rooms Air conditioning for the 6th floor rooms
The staff was great with our entire family (5 siblings and families). We were in a triple the first three nights which was a large room and quite comfortable. The second stay we were on the 6th floor which was not so great but we made do.

Handy spot

Posted 10-Sep-2017
Pros: The charm.
Cons: Have smoking rooms
Location: We did so many nearby things. My favorite was the Greyfriars Bobby monument.
We loved the old world charm of this place! The breakfast was great as it was included! The room was big and ornate. And Clean!

Ideal location

Posted 07-Sep-2017
Pros: Location
Cons: decor - a little dated
Location: Shopping, restaurants, Royal Mile, Castle, Easy access to train station,
Brilliant location, on Princes Street and just over the road from the train station. There are about a dozen steps up to the reception, but there is a lift from the reception up to the other floors. Staff were very helpful. Overall the hotel is a little dated, but like the rest of the hotel, our room was very clean - perhaps a little on the small side... We didn't try the restaurant, but it looked fine. We would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a short stay in Edinburgh as the location could not be better.

Nice old place, very quaint.

Even though the hotel is quite old, it is well maintained and clean. Perfect views of Edinburgh castle, close to Waverley station and wonderful Rose street. We would recommend to friends and stay there again.

Great Location

Older hotel but renovated inside. It is located on one of the main shopping streets and a short walk from The Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. The Waverley Train Station is across the road. The hotel staff were helpful and the rooms comfortable.

Nice and central

Lovely room with views to castle. Food choice good. The only downside will be having only one lift that held 4 people. We had to wait a while for an empty lift as we were on 5th floor.
