NH Hotel, good for business in Fribourg
Hotel is in the centre of town. The carpark out front is free from 18:30 - 08:00 and then 1CHF p/h. Hotel is fine with good breakfast and the rooms are a reasonable sized, modern and clean. Lift is pretty slow The mattresses on the bed(s) need to be replaced, they are U-shaped due to use and hence not the most comfortable. I would stay here again, options in Fribourg are limited.

Problem was it was 36c both days and the hotel is not air conditioned - they kindly changed me to mountain view room but did not realize it would get full sun all day. First day my room was 40c - I had a small fan and had to sleep with a damp towel over me for comfort. Day 2 I was out all day but returned to a room like an oven. Would not recommend this hotel in the height of summer. Staff were great.

I'd stay there again
The service at NH was great, and you can't beat the view in the mountain view rooms. Be sure to carry your key card around everywhere. You can't access the elevator without it. If you're in it with other people, only one can swipe at a time to get to their floors, so be prepared to wait a while. The beds were comfortable, and the room was a bit larger than what I've seen with other comparably priced hotels.

Very friendly staff and location is great. However the room was rather run down. Chipped furniture, dirty walls, stains on the carpet. I asked for the manager to address it with him but he was only onsite during my working hours. They asked me for my room number when I filed my complaint but no one ever got back to me. I stayed there before and the room was actually okay then even though outdated.

Convenient location
I was going to Fribourg to attend an afternoon event near the train station. The location is ideal. I arrived around noon. The front desk staff was very friendly, and speaks very good English. Upon learning that I came all the way from the US and would need to get changed for the afternoon event, she let me checked in early and even accommodated my request of having a room with a specific view.

The breakfast was expensive more than it deserves. The hotel location was excellent. The room has two bathrooms so that we can effectively share them with my colleague.

This hotel was well situated,and the staff very helpful. The rooms were well cleaned. The only concern was there was no air conditioning. We were fine with the fall visit bu tthis could be an issue in the summer. There was a fan in the room. Overall, a good value.

An okay option
I stayed 3 nights at the NH Hotel Fribourg. The room was spacious, and food and staff in the restaurant were quite good. Breakfast is quite nice. The hotel is very close to the main train station, the Fribourg Centre shopping centre, and the historical town. However, the area right around the hotel is a bit worn down, the rooms need a big update - furniture, carpets, bathroom are all about 20 years old and showing their age. Same with the lobby bar. However, the bed was comfortable. In the room, there was a lack of electrical outlets to plug in electronics, phone, etc., especially near the bed. The bathroom wasn't as clean as it could have been. When I arrived a bit before the designated check-in time, the desk staff simply said to come back at 3 p.m.; I don't think they made an effort to even see if a room was available early, nor did they offer to store my suitcase. In many hotels, they try to accomodate those who arrive a bit early. Overall, the hotel suited my purpose, and it was adequate, but there might be other options worth exploring.

eye sore of a building
Brief stay that was fine, but really offended by this very unattractive building sticking up in an unattractive square with lots of traffic. The building is from the 80s,but not sure how this got built in a nice city like Fribourg.

Good quality hotel in central Fribourg but noisy
Hotel is located right in the middle of central Fribourg. It is a great hotel for large groups and the city is very walkable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the hotel has no air conditioning, so we had to open the window to get air. The city is very noisy and the hotel is exposed to this noise. Outside corridors look a little dated. Overall, good hotel, but depending on situation it may be noisy at night outside.

A week+ in Fribourg
I just spent 8 days in Fribourg and I think NH Hotel is one of the better places there. The location is perfect - right by the train station and close to the pedestrian area for restaurants, etc. Breakfast was excellent and overall the staff were very friendly and helpful. In terms of modern conveniences, the WIFI worked fine, however there was not an extra power outlet anywhere in the room to plug in a phone or computer (unplugging lights or the tv was the only solution). As in common there, there is no AC in the rooms, so if the weather is warm this can become quite uncomfortable. The windows will open wide, however there was noise and activity in and around the Fribourg Centre and the Grand-Places that can go well in the early morning hours.

Good location
Check-in and check-out were quick. The beds in our room were terrible - to soft and sagging. I approached reception and we were allocated a different room with good beds. Great view into the mountains.

Tons of room for a European hotel in its price range. They even left us peanuts & oranges in the afternoon. Free parking! We also enjoyed the rare use of a bathtub.

Rooms and lobby are dated and European lean, though hallways have been spruced up. Elevators are slow. Bath amenities were nice. Absent a thermostat and the room being too warm, I opened window(s). However, local bar crowd and street noise lasted until 2 AM (and I was on the 9th floor). The breakfast buffet (and service) was excellent and had an extensive assortment of fruits, juices, cold meats, cheeses, vegetables, hot dishes, pastries, coffee/tea, etc. A very good value that more than compensated for the lack-luster room.

NH Fribourg was a fabulous base for us. We stayed 10 days in Fribourg, which was central to everything we needed. Comfy double bed each, clean bathroom. Restaurant meals were good prices & beautuful food with many choices.

Convenient hotel but not great
Stay 2 nights for the travel to Bern because of its cheaper rate. The location is great and the room is clean and the front desk service is great. The hotel lobby is quite updated. But the hotel has no conditioner but it provides an electric fun in the room. I have to open the window at night in the hot day. It is quite disappointed given its size and it is a chain hotel. Lower floor will be nosiy in weekend because of it disco at the floor.

We chose the hotel as was the closest to the station for our convenience. Not far to walk to old town or get Trams/buses (Hotel gave us a free Bern travel card). Hotel was comfortable and fortunately we had booked one of the 5 air conditioned rooms as it was very hot. Coming from Asia, the room price is quite high for what you get but guess this is the norm for Switzerland. This hotel served our needs in Bern but maybe next time would stay closer to the Old Town as so charming. Breakfast was excellent (best part of our stay there), fresh fruit smoothies, lots fruit, yoghurt, Bircher Muesli, breads, pastries, cheese, smoked salmon, cold meats, etc.

A good choice
Conveniently situated within 5 minutes walk of the railway station with stunning views over the gorge from my room. No AC in the bedroom, so very hot (it was the beginning of September), but shutting the curtains during the day and using the desk fan provided at night made it bearable. Colleagues with rooms at the front of the hotel said they were cooler (no afternoon sun on that side), but they said they had to put up with lots of noise from the adjacent bars. If your budget won't stretch to a 5 star hotel, I think CH hotels are very good value. .

Lovely hotel and city and fantastic staff but watch out if staying Friday and Saturday night - the night club below is really really loud and on the first floor (4 floors above club) you can still hear the bass thumping till 3am - asked for a room change but none available :(
