It’s a lovely small and friendly hotel with a great atmosphere The only suggestion I would make is that breakfast is very slow service as cooked breakfast items are served by one person who is also making egg dishes So frustrating to wait . Easily solved by letting guests serve themselves as they do at every Protea I have stayed at

The Hotel stay was very good, staff very friendly. with the exception of housekeeping that didn't properly clean our room and replace few things we used. Overall I would recommend Protea Hotel and use it again.

Perfect for an overnight in Nelspruit
The hotel was clean, staff friendly and conveniently located for a one night stop over in Nelspruit before a trip to the Kruger National Park. Considering the Pandemic, the hotel and staff took the necessary precautions I.e. sanitizing of hands, pens and room cards, social distancing and completing health questionnaires upon arrival. Sanitizer wipes were generously located in the room.

A true 4 star hotel experience!
Geeat stay and a true 4 star hotel. The customer service from the security guard at the gate, to the front desk was great. Will definitely be coming back.

Restaurant service was beyond awful. They give priority to tour groups. We ordered our food at 7:30 pm. One hour later we asked if they had forgotten about us. Another hour later we left having only received one appetizer and one salad. They told us the rest of our meal was on the way but after two hours we decided to go back to our room and eat snacks. We paid for what we had received only. I would not stay here again. We arrived before the tour groups but they had all finished and gone while we were still Waiting for our food.

The lights which were due for arrival as part of our refurbishment has been delayed at customs. We expect these within the next few days. This will most certainly take care of the poor lighting. Just okay place, great pool and pool area. No bar fridge in the rooms, you might get one on request. Rooms are old style design, could do with a revamp. Shower water pressure not satisfactory at all, mixer moves from Antarctica to Volcano by turning it a centimetre. Cleaning staff not the best however, location of the hotel to many amenities is really convenient. All in all I wouldnt come back

Nice hotel with great service to Kruger Park!
We had a day to explore Kruger Park and do a day safari. Leon, hotel manager, put us in contact with Bongi of IzizweRainbow tours. First rate service and experience. Transported us to park where we met the first female guide, Albertina, who took us on a great adventure. I travel a lot and was so impressed by this group of bright, ernest and caring people who wanted to share their Africa with us. Amazing! they're relatively new. Nothing much to complain, except my room was quiet close to the restaurant area, and the people having breakfast was very noisy in the morning.. The room was very small, the hotel wasn't honest on the photos to show the actual size of the room. No lifts, have to carry the luggages up the stairs to the room..

A better hotel choice in Nelspruitt-
A good spot to rest up after a long flight to JNB and the connection to Nelspruitt/kruger. Above average in terms of room cleanliness but a smallish room size. Above average staff hospitality. A non-smoking room which was fine but the hallway was full of smoke. The best wifi I found in the Kruger area hotels. The hotel appeared to be one of the better hotels in town and seemed to have a nice courtyard with a pool. I just did not like the gates of Kruger it was closest to. I enjoyed other areas better.

Noisy With Really Bad Internet
The Internet would not work for other guests and me. The hotel was adamant that it was not their system, and would not repair it. You have a choice of rooms overlooking a large generator that runs all night, or a busy road.

Air-condition did not function.
Our air-condition unit did not function. After two attempts from the hotel staff to set it up it still did not work. Only after a heavy discussion did the manager move us to another room. Before this we had been told they will provide us with a floor standing fan. We have also been informed that the hotel is fully booked and no other rooms are available.
