"Hotel's Name Reflects Our Experience"
From a friendly message thanking us for our reservation and providing driving instructions from the airport to our reluctant farewell to owner and the hotel's hostess, our experience was truly memorable and enjoyable. The hotel was like an oasis within walking distance from the shops of downtown Oranjestad, in a neighborhood of typical middle class one-story housing found in the city, all with surrounding stucco walls. Inside the Wonders gated "compound", is an open well landscaped and maintained property complete with tropical plants, palm trees, a swimming pool, and multiple small tables, lounge chairs, and hammocks... all arranged to maximize guest privacy. Butterflies, hummingbirds and the small yellow breasted Aruban bananaquit, or chibichibi bird were frequent visitors to the colorful tropical flowers in pots and landscaping around our room. Our room was spacious, well appointed in a tropical decor with tile floors, and a huge bathroom with a walk in shower. We had a small kitchenette with a gas counter-top burners and undercounter-sized refrigerator, affording us ample opportunity to prepare a light meal and keep items cool (not frozen).
There was off-street parking in the compound, but space is limited so rent a small vehicle.
The staff were friendly, accommodating, and conveyed a "we want you to relax and feel at home" attitude. Even the hotel's owner's dog, Griffin, was laid back and friendly.
