Was really looking forward to stay but owner did not show for my check-in! Rainy November afternoon, check in at 3:00 pm. Waited two hours after calling 2 numbers listed on Inn's entry table; no answer, left message. Just saying the Inn is on an island with limited accomodations especially in the late fall (and during Covid). Went to town while waited. Callled owner again around 5 pm having never received a call back; was getting pretty late and dark. Owner answered his phone this time: apparently he was off-island. Wierdest call; he put me on hold for a very long time while he was doing other business. No explaination nor any hint of apology. I was confused and bewildered as to what was happening. After not getting anywhere in regards to when he may return to the island, I asked to cancel reservation after I had him assure me I would not get charged. Later that night the owner left message on my phone; believe he had forgotten to write the reservation on his calendar. Wasn't seemingly apologetic: really (?) May I note that he had done a welcome / look forward to seeing you phone message shortly after I booked the reservation a few weeks prior. Luckily I have family ties to the Vineyard and a family summer home I could sleep, and thankfully the November weather temps were warmer than usual. I was lucky I was not an Island visitor as I would have been in a precarious situation. Worst possible customer service, especially, as I mentioned, am on an island!

Quick one night stay when stranded due to canceled ferry off the Island. Inn could use a refresh but Fred was helpful and kind and the bed was comfortable.

Convenient for Martha's Vineyard Marathon
I stayed here to go to the Martha's Vineyard Marathon. The location was very convenient- close to a convenience store, bus stop and about .7 of a mile from the pick up point for the shuttle to the marathon start. The room was very nice. Staff even let me do late check out on Sat after the marathon so I could come back and shower. I'd stay here again.

Heavenly weekend in Edgartown:
I loved my stay at this Inn. It was clean and lovely. Comfortable and charming. Big fluffy white towels. Wifi. Tea for the taking. The innkeeper, Fred, was friendly and helpful. My bedroom was charming and the downstairs was beautifully appointed. With a fireplace and antique art. Great atmosphere. An easy five minute walk to cafes and the harbor. Edgartown is one of my favorite parts of the Island. Lots of historic buildings, town Hall, big white churches, great shopping, a Lighthouse and a beach within walking distance. Grand homes, sail boats. A diner where you can get a sandwich for $8 and fine restaurants where you drop $40 if you want to. A total joy and great value! Thank you.

Great Island B & B
Very nice B & B within walking distance to everything in Edgartown. It's a nice walk into town (maybe 10 minutes) down Main Street. Room was cute and quiet. The building is dated 1860. Great service and the breakfast was limited but very good. Wish we had more time to just hang out in the living room where there was a fireplace for when it gets cooler.

Good location, in need of repairs
The owner was very nice/helpful and the location is a perfect 5 min walk into Edgartown. Unfortunately the place is in need of repair. Floorboard/paneling broken, door handle loose & door doesn't close tight without turning bolt lock, etc... Breakfast is ok, however, the staff didn't really know/understand what they were serving - just reading from the list they had. It's not horrible but there might be other options in town worth exploring.

Had a nice stay. Beautiful B&B. Was cold and rainy but the fire place made it warm. We went off season so breakfast was not included. Did not see staff too much because of offseason. Would have been nice if coffee and tea were available during the day and not just in morning.

My wife and I stayed in a hotel for one night. Very cozy quiet atmosphere, a good location. Nearly there are many interesting restaurants and shops. Very pleased hospitable host.

B&B near Edgartown Dock St.
We booked this B&B in advance for a mid-week October getaway arriving around 3. Upon checking in, the manager was quite surprised to find that our assigned room had not been turned over. Not a problem-he had another room to give us. Though I suppose the new one was in a higher price point than our original, there was a distinct mildew odor upon entering which was a constant companion during our stay. Think state park cabin odor. Perhaps no one had stayed there for a while, but, there were two clothing items left in the closet from a previous guest. We did have a sitting room which was unexpected, but the upholstery on the sofa looked rather worn and not clean. Bedroom decor was also dated and worn, not up to what we typically find in a B&B. We’re used to bathrooms that are pristine. Not so this one. Grout hadn’t gotten much attention lately. The room in general needed a deep cleaning. Common areas, however, were much nicer with lots of private tables for breakfast. Breakfast, though good, also wasn’t up to the typical fare we’ve had elsewhere, that you need to ask for a recipe before you leave. You couldn’t ask for more of a great location. The manager was quite personable and helpful answering question and making suggestions. All in all, it was an adequate but less than memorable stay. Perhaps we got a dud of a room.

Great location, quaint spot.
The Inn is located just outside the center of Edgartown, its a very short walk to all the shops and restaurants. The staff was welcoming, and the Inn itself is lovely. A couple of pieces of furniture in our room were a bit worn and the bathroom shower definitely needs updating, all that said, I would definitely recommend the Inn.

Can't beat the location. Room a bit dated
The location is great, parking is great, the breakfast was pretty good, the owner seems like a real nice guy. The common areas are charming as well but I found the room to be a little dated and in need of some TLC. If you're more likely to stay at a Best Western than a Westin than you'll be fine here. If you're taste is more champagne than beer you might want to think about a higher end B&B. It's all about your personal taste.

Very lovely old home/B&B.
Although my room was not ready at 3pm check-in time, it was all set by 4pm when I returned to check in. The room was very pretty and very clean. The bathroom was also very clean. The shower was very nice. Water was hot and the pressure was excellent! The breakfast areas were lovely with excellent seating arrangements.

Don't recommend during the off-season
This property is clearly managed differently depending on the season, and I wonder if it should be open at all during the off season, given that they are not ready to provide the service they are supposedly famous for. They announce coffee/tea station, free breakfast, lemonade, cookies and afternoon tea, none of which was true when we stayed. We were upgraded to a room larger than we had booked, which was very kind. The house is gorgeous, with a lot of character and a very appealing living room. It was a shame that the fireplace was not in use. The location is great, just an easy stroll away from Edgartown center, where there are multiple dining and shopping options. There is a convenient parking area at the back of the house. The property overall needs some TLC, but it makes up for it with charm.

Nice place close to the center of Edgartown
The Inn was built in 1860 and was full of history and character. The owner, who also works at the Inn has kept the furnishings and the decor to look like the old days with all the modern conveniences. If you want to experience Martha's Vineyard stay in this place. We really enjoyed it

Wonderful Inn
We had a wonderful stay at the inn! Fred the inn keeper is very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are delicious and the rooms a comfortable and well kept. It feels like you are staying with family, we can't wait to go back.it is easier to get around the island if you bring you car, but there are cars on the island to rent or buses to take.

Stayed in room 6 which has a queen bed and private bath. Room needed some TLC - stained and in places torn wallpaper, no cover plate on wall plug outlet, beat up nightstands. Had window shades with curtain rods but no curtains. Was nice having own bathroom but that also needed rehab. Rusty heating vents, stained tub, too long shower liner. I had to be extra careful not to get tangled up in liner. I expected better. Can't speak for other rooms. Downstairs area was nice. Breakfasts were good. Nice big parking lot right in back of building.

This is a two-story home built in 1860 that owner, Fred, has converted to a bed and breakfast. Every room has its own bathroom and sitting area. Since we'd never been to Martha's Vineyard, I called ahead to ask whether to bring the car. Fred encouraged me to bring the car and invited us to stop by so he could help us plan our day to make the most of it. True to his word, he outlined our day and we had a wonderful experience.

This was our first trip to Martha's Vineyard. I booked for 3 nights thinking that I have a lot to see but ran out of options after one day. Also being a vegetarian, not many choices fir eating in the Edgar town area where Ashley Inn is located.
