    Jules Verne

This is not a hotel room. It is a tiny building attached to the side of another building and consists of a single triangular shaped room the main feature of which is a steep metal ladder. That ladder is how you climb to the very small bed in what could be described as a loft. If you are not agile give this a big miss. There is no reception and you are sent instructions how to let yourself into the building once you have booked. There is nothing in the advertisement to indicate this, nor of the nature of the room. The room has all the things that you would expect in a 2 star hotel room but it is far from it. It is themed on the Jules Verne novel. As such it is very quirky and may suit some adventurous young people.

    Nicely themed room

If you are visiting Nantes because you're visiting Les Machines de l'île, and you want to keep it Jules Verne themed, then this place is ideal. It's a small triangular shaped apartment (looks like it's a storage space that has been converted) with a clean kitchen (hob, kettle, microwave, fridge espresso machine wit coffee and tea) a clean bathroom (shower, toilet, sink, hairdryer, towels) and a living space (triangular table with seating, wifi, TV, and bed; which is located up a very tall ladder). All these ‘rooms’ are in the same space under one roof, bathroom hidden behind a sliding door. We stayed for 3 nights, it was very hot that week. Although downstairs felt a little cooler as the walls are brick/concrete, upstairs (up the ladder) was very stuffy as the bed was so close to the roof (heat rises). The first couple of evenings were hot, by the third evening the covers felt clammy and sticky. Probably a combination of sweaty bodies and the moisture from the shower which is located directly underneath the bed, only separated by willow screening (same sort of stuff you see when garden fences are made of long twigs). I can imagine if it was cooler outside it wouldn’t be an issue, colder days would probably be quite nice, but I would bring slippers as the floor is a concrete finish. It was easy enough to retrieve the key to the apartment, they leave it in a little safe next to the large green gates that guard the property. (It’s near the ground, left side).

Pros: Some of the finishing touches were lovely, like the drinking water in the corner, a foot pedal activates the ‘tap’.

Cons: Some lights didn't work, TV needed some jiggling to make work, some clearer instructions for TV, Microwave and Coffee machine as they were confusing.

Location: Quiet, pretty, close to buses & trams, Le Lieu Unique is just down the road, great for drinks and dinner. Walking distance to most locations.

Une ambiance hors du temps. Optimisation de l'espace Le matelas pourrais etre changé il semble qu'il y ait un creu au milieu ce qui n'est pas tres confortable lorsqu on y dort à 2

    A voir !
