Very conveniant for Nanjing railway station, 1 stop. Clean modern hotel comfortable spacious rooms, fod to cater to all tastes, Little nightlife close by so very quiet.

Top level hotel
Top level hotel. Very nice room and bed. Nice gym. Reception staff speaks decent English. Has restaurant and bar on premise. Free WiFi, though suffers from the typical China internet filtering. Offers a very nice breakfast where you may also enjoy a western menu. Located about 45 minutes by car from NKG airport and walking distance from a metro station.

Great Shangri-La experience at Nanjing
One of the best five star hotels I have ever stayed. The staff at Shangri-La at Nanjing are courteous, warm and well trained. Those at the Concierge department are particularly helpful in helping purchase train tickets and other business arrangements. We will stay again.

My room was booked with 2 breakfasts (room with two double beds) included, however, when I invited some for a breakfast meeting the morning I was supposed to check out, I was advised that my room has only one free breakfast since I was the only one checked-in to the hotel, unless I take my guest for a registration at the front desk. I was happy to do that but when I went down to the front desk, the staff told me that he was unable to registers my guest since it was my check out date. Later, he wanted me to sign the bill at breakfast first, which goes to my room charge, and he was confident that the bill can be taken care of at check out. After breakfast when I was checking out, another staff helped me and refused to waive the bill even after speaking with the staff that told me to sign the bill. I was very confused by the situation, and with a flight to catch, I did not choose to argue further. I just could not understand why would a hotel makes the breakfast situation so complicated when a room already comes with two breakfasts, as well as the lack of commutation between staff and lack of willingness to solve problem for guest.

Service is subpar
Staff service was not up to other Shangri-las standard. Waited in line for nesrly 15 mins for check in, while waiting for the staff trying to fix their VAT invoice printer. Offers no apologies and frankly the staff couldn't care less about how I was unhappy about the situation.

Nice hotel but staff need better training.
Hotel itself is very nice. Good: Spacious room, very clean and in good shape. Room service good and fairly fast. Medium: Surrounding area is not very attractive, although close to the lake it takes quite a while to actually find an entrance to it. Some of the staff gave me a rather unwelcoming feeling when speaking to them. Not all but some of them. Not good: I understand people sneeze. That's nature. People who hold their hand up while sneezing are even considered well behaved. So I'm standing in front of the cold cuts, which the lady behind the counter was just refilling, and she then sneezes into her hand. I then stare at her, wondering if she's going to change her plastic gloves but she seems very unimpressed and just picks up a handful of salmon and plonks it on the counter for people to take. She does that with the same hand she just sneezed all her germs into. That's something, that at least I find unacceptable. So all in all a nice hotel, as one would expect from a brand name like that, but the breakfast incident put me off so I'm going to avoid this hotel branch in future.

Happy with the hotel
Great hotel. Very helpful staff for booking train tickets, taxis, or translation. Great room. The area itself is a little "out of the action" but next to the metro, which is easy for foreigners to use.

Good hotel
Hotel was great only problem was late night no coffee shop or bar could serve drinks or food so had to order room service from limited all night menu. My room was all good but my friends room had a cleanliness issue which they sorted later. All in all a luxurious comfortable stay barring a few small hiccups

The room whilst old fashioned (Shangrila usually is quite sedate and predictable decor - not a bad thing) was comfortable, clean, neat very spacious. Huge room, huge bathroom and everything was great. The only negative I can think of was there is no late night bar serving drinks. At check (I checked in at 1030pm) was told lobby bar is open till 12;30 am so I went down for a drink and a bite to eat at 11:20 to see them packing away - all closed (an hour early) then was directed to anothre bar on th e5th floor - that bar ONLY served beer ( no food no wine) so eventually had to go back and order room service from a VERY limited menu (just 8-10 dishes) and they gave me a complimentary glass of wine BUT the wine was corked and off and tasted awful (appreciate their gesture but not serve a stale wine that has probably been opened for a long time thats why give it for free?)

A bad apple ruins all
The hotel is not located in city center, but it's facing the famous lake, good view from hotel room. Subway station is within 5 mins walk and a shopping center with 10 mins. The room was comfy and clean. But wifi was horrible. Besides whatsapp and baidu, you were disconnected with entire world. (I end up used my portable wifi, which I could access to google) Most of the staff were very helpful. But I had one disappointing experience. I wanted to send a post card out of China. The bell boy told me it's RMB5, and he did not have any stamp with him. He said I just gave him the card and he would mail it for me. Knowing that sending a post card to the place I live was RMB 1.50, I refused so. A dishonest guy ruins reputation of a hotel. Do you trust such a guy to carry your baggage to your room?

Check in was smooth. Staff cordial. Room was up to the usual Shangri-la standard. Ate at Cafe Xuan. Food was good. Used the powder room the same time as one of their staff and was stunned that she did not wash her hands after coming out of the W.C.!!

Reconsider this Shangri-La
I was disappointed with my stay at Shangri-La. I stayed at the hotel when i first opened in Nanjing last year and the service was much better. No signature fresh fruit in the rooms and the staff was not as attentive as when it first opened. Disappointing.

Being an independent highrise not attached to any shopping complex, it is only one stop from the Nanjing railway station, so great choice for lazy business travelers who take train to Nanjing and want to avoid local traffic. The subway station, however, does not have an underground path connecting directly to the hotel, so you need to climb up the subway and take a 5 minutes walk along the pedestrian walkway on the main street to get to the main hotel entrance, which is slightly inconvenient considering so many scooter motorcycles in China dash on pedestrian walkway.I stayed at a lake view room , which is very spacious, and offers spectacular mountain and lake view. Window is well cleaned. Very fortunately, weather was good so I saw both thrilling sunrise and full moonlight that day, which is considered a luxury now due to the lingering smog problem China is facing.Hotel offered me complimentary 4pm checkout, nice, and also offered me free access to the lounge, which unfortunately doesnt offer 360 view; if you want to see the view on the other sides, you will need to dine in the restaurant next to it. Amenity in the room is that famous L'o brand, nice. Bed is big and comfortable. Breakfast is good too.some furniture in the room has sharp edges, and the interior decor seems a bit old fashioned. The overall service professionalism is not as top-class as InterCon in Nanjing.In conclusion, a very nice hotel, and I will definitely recommend to other people.
