"Clean hotel, comfortable, yet tacky"

"Their "Cottage" is really a 3 br, 1 bath house with washer and dryer and full kitchen (somewhat limited cooking utensils etc. but could make do) for staying many days that is reasonably updated with nice beds and decent furniture and parking right next to it. It is next to the rest of the Buccaneer Inn right on the main highway, so it is not secluded. Only the tiniest of peekaboo view of the harbor on the other side of the highway. So don't expect to be in a cottage in a forest or near a beach. The crosswalk across the highway is nearby and once across, nice walkway along the harbor and a very good Irish pub we went to 2 nights. So, on balance, a good value for the price and a good "base" for a visit to Nanaimo."
