Central location, multiple good restaurants within walking distance. Front desk helpful e.g. arranging car service for a stop at the Grand Mosque enroute to the airport. However delays due to understaffing - manager is always busy.

Decent Hotel near the Masjid Al Zawawi
The best part about this hotel was its location to the Al Zawawi Mosque and the Muscat Bakery. Otherwise it was nothing special. A taxi from the airport should cost around 8-9 OMR. The hallways were always smoke filled, and even though there were two of us staying in the room, they would only provide one free water. The room was clean, and the hotel was near the major road which takes you to all places in Muscat. There are hundreds of Baisa buses that pass by and the "once every 15-30 minutes" number 1 city bus that stops near the pedestrian overpass beside the mosque. There are also many, many food places around the hotel, some cheap, some expensive.

Nice hotel with reasonable price
Easy access by walk to restaurants, grocery shops, shopping center, mosque and ATM. WIFI at room are not good enough, need to work on that. Overall, it is a very good hotel.

Conveniently located hotel in Al Khuwair, Muscat
This is a small hotel conveniently located near to the Sultan Qaboos highway in Alkhwair, Muscat, near to the Ministry offices. There are a lot of restaurants and shops in and around the hotel. Overall a pleasant stay. Good budget hotel.

Overnight pre-flight stay
A good choice if flying out of Muscat this is a business-type hotel, not one for a tourist stay in Muscat. However, plenty of eating choices nearby and a decent curry is to be had in the hotel restaurant. Large, very clean room but no bedside light and have to walk across the room to turn out the ceiling light: unusual in a decent hotel.

Really nice hotel
Hotel was great for the price. Staff all friendly, room decent size and clean. Bathroom also quite large with good shower. Location was good but we found it a little difficult to find. Would definitely recommend it for a well priced simple hotel. There is a restaurant but we didn't eat there.

Not the best.
I was very disappointed in my stay. After one night, I found another hotel. The staff was not friendly and there is not much in the area. No pool, but the Internet was hit or miss in the room. Awoke every morning at 4:30 am by the mosque across the street. Loud and Very disrupting. Personally, I wouldn't to stay here again. The staff is not helpful. They don't seem to care about guests.

Excellent - Value for Money
Very good check in service by the reception staff on arrival . Luggage porter very well mannered and spoken. Suite is great value and clean . Will certainly come back and stay here .

simple but satisfactory
The hotel is clean, close to all other similar hotels, but is distant from the major tourist sights. I used it for simple accommodation and was well satisfied. I would stay there again if I could not find an alternative hotel closer to the older part of Muscat.

Its a budget hotel… Nothing fancy but clean….
For a cheap hotel in Muscat this is the place it is fairly central… The shopping centre is just down the street in behind the hotel a few blocks away. The room is sparse, and minimal with outdated furnishings and simple bedding. It had clean tile floors, and the bathroom was clean and worked… The hotel was quiet, until the morning prayers commenced with the mosque located directly across the street, maybe something to consider. For a budget hotel… It was all I really needed.

Excellent hotel at a good value!
Samara is an excellent hotel at a great price and in a very good location. The hotel is well maintained (clean) and the staff are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The majority of the staff speak English quite well with the front desk staff being fluent in multiple languages. During my entire stay (5 days about two weeks ago), the hotel operated at full occupancy (80 rooms I think). Due to it's rates and location, it's a very attractive place. I was most impressed with how accommodating the hotel manager was in making sure that my family and I had a pleasant stay.

I was not overly impressed with this place. It seemed to be a bachelor pad and not the ideal place for my family. I expected more. The service was mediocre. The breakfast they served was disgusting. It's location was good and it was cheap but you get what you pay for. I would not stay there again.

I have used this hotel twice and have been satisfied on both occasions. Free Wi-Fi, clean, comfortable rooms and serviced by helpful polite staff. Depending on which time of the year you are staying here - the price is also very competitive.

Great hotel to stay in Muscat
Overall the hotel is clean and suitable for a stay in Muscat. The staff are friendly and try to help you as best as they can. however I think they need to have more information about the tourist attractions around town and tours for people who do not have a car. The rooms are fairly basic but nice to stay in. They are cleaned on a regular basis and have good airconditioning. The beds are comfy and there are no issues with bugs. The location is fine with other hotels around. There is a lso a great 24 hour supermarket/bakery close by which is useful for supplies. Also there is a large supermarket and some restaurants all within walking distance. Just be aware there is not much public transport close by so to get around you need to get a taxi which involves bargining with the drivers. Overall I would recommend this place for any traveller.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and were extremely happy. The staff at the front desk were welcoming and the service was excellent. It is clean and the location is very central and easily accessible for a number of eating places as well as to catch taxis. Excellent budget accommodation!

I stayed in the suite which was actually a one-bedroom flat. There was a flat screen TV in the living room and one in the bedroom too. The kitchen had a fridge and microwave and the apartment was comfortable and had a great view of the mosque and the ocean. The staff were extremely friendly and check out was quick and simple. I highly recommend the Samara as the rates are very good for the size of the rooms and close location to the main road and many restaurants.

15 mins from airport and 30 mins from Muttrah
A clean, quiet simple hotel in a modern, residential area. Very convenient for airport (taxi 4 rials) in a lively area with restaurants and cafés within easy walking distance from hotel. Traffic can be heavy into Muttrah or Muscat at certain times of the day and for some the hotel is not so easy to find. A hotel which is good value for the money you pay.

NICE Place to Stay
It was a nice hotel to stay, easy access to every place, Good Masjid is near by. Close to Petrol Station, Lu Lu, Muscat Grand Mall and ......... Very secured place to stay.

This hotel may be a long shot from the ritz but if you are looking for a cheap deal this is the place. It was less than 1/2 price on this site at just 20 omr. The staff were very nice, so despite not being a glamourous hotel it was perfect.

We found it extremely hard to find the hotel but then again, it was our first trip to Muscat. The hotel's map is clear and easy to follow and the hotel is located near the sights and a main roadway. The staff were friendly and provided us with a map as well as timings of some of the local monuments. I found the support staff (i.e. maintenance and housecleaning) to be very friendly, Re our room, we had a suite with not so great views; we were hopeful that we'd have a view of the stunning mosque across the street. It seemed that there just weren't enough towels for a family of four--and the shampoo/conditioner seemed to be just barely enough. Anyhow, they were of good quality as my daughter's hair came out silky and smooth. I'm not sure if I would recommend it to others as although it was satisfactory for one night, I still feel I could have gotten more for less.

Samara Hotel - good value for money
The hotel is a decent choice for the price. However, breakfast was not included even though the booking details did mention it. The rooms are clean and room service is good and fairly inexpensive. The location is not central if you want to visit the main business district or the souqs (traditional market). The fact that taxis are not metered in Muscat and you need to bargain, going back and forth can become expensive.

I did'nt satisfy my reservation
I made a reservation for four adults but room which resreved was only one double bed room. So I was nonplussed with this situation. I recommend to Hotels.com to review ans show us how many guests to stay in the room. Anyway I feel like good condition to sleep.
