Beautiful 6-star elegance in Mumbai
When I booked this hotel, I was thinking, "sure, it's a Four Seasons and it's going to be great." I was picked up in a wifi-enabled BMW 5-series for the 30 minute trip to the hotel. When I approached the check-in desk, the staff informed me that I was already checked in. Then, a staff member escorted me to my room to complete the check in formalities there. While he was showing me the details of the room, a staff member from the front desk arrived with a plate of steaming-hot plate of gulab jamun. After he was finished, he excused himself from my room. When I offered him a tip, *he refused it*, which, in my limited Indian experience, is unheard of. In my room , there was an endless supply of bottled water, which I kept cold in the mini fridge. Since they have twice daily housekeeping service, it was assured that I would never run out of bottled water. Even if I did, all I had to do was call down to the front desk, and in approximately 20 milliseconds someone was at my door with 5 bottles of water.
The staff could not have been more gracious. Every person, whether it be the front desk or the restaurant, personally remembered my name throughout my stay. I felt like a guest in their home. Breakfast in the restaurant was top-rate, and when I told them how much I like masala chai, the waitstaff appeared not even 5 minutes later with a bag of masala chai mix for me to take home. The warmth and passion for customer service was clear!
