This was, by far, the CLEANEST place I’ve ever stayed!!! The views from the deck were amazing! The hot tub was soooo awesome!!! WiFi was good for texting and some surfing but not necessarily for streaming. However, staff was very prompt to come check on it! We were there during the off season so it was super quiet and peaceful ♥️ We loved seeing all the deer and bunny rabbits!!

We were there in the off season but it was quiet and beautiful. We were able to grill and spend time in the hot tub. It was close to all the major sites we wanted to visit. It was great!

It was the host hotel for the Crazy Horse Marathon and provided shuttle bus to and from the race. The road getting there was under construction, the pool, restaurants, bar, hot tub…were all closed! Internet was not available I imagine if I was there when everything was open…during the summer… it would be a fabulous place to spend time! As for me…running a race…I would have preferred to be downtown with restaurants and other amenities available!

The clerk was absolutely fabulous. She was so pleasant and friendly. Gave us great directions and possible things to see. The property is so awesome. I would definitely stay here again. So much to offer - Campground, cabins, resort. Pickle ball court, pool outside. Loved it here, wish our plans would have allowed us to stay longer. Maybe next time!!!

We picked Palmer Gulch because they allow dogs. It was nice to have a balcony with our room. Unfortunately, some of the stores and restaurants associated with the hotel was closed for the season. I was disappointed with breakfast and the prepackaged food options that I am not able to eat.

Very clean rooms. Wish they would guest know that restaurant and other areas are not open during off season. They did tell us about a very good restaurant in town. Chute Rooster had the best local atmosphere and taste Bison burgers.

Becky was so great and chipper upon check-in. She really helped us out and set the tone for our stay. Loved all the activities - pickleball, basketball, mini golf, pool, etc.

The property was nice but the amenities were slim! The restaurant was closed, the little shops were closed. No room service, slim wafers of soap, breakfast was not great but the place would be great for camping!

The Lodge at Palmer Gultch is a little out of the way of Hill City, but it is very quiet. We went Sept 14-15th, the weather was beautiful and we were able to use the outdoor hot tub. I liked that it has an on site dining area and bar so that we didn't have to drive to look for a place to eat.

Service was great. However, the bath fan sounded like a plane taking off. The walls didn’t stop sound from coming through as we could hear our neighbors. Their shower sounded like it was in our room.

Great Place to stay
Location of this resort was close to several iconic Black Hills attractions. After Labor Day, the bulk of the restaurants and shops at the resort understandably closed for the season. The grill. Was open until 7:30 for burgers

Mt. Rushmore trip
If you like camping,this is the place as this is a KOA, complete with flies and mosquitos. We stayed in a cabin away from the campers, market, main office and restaurant. The cabin had a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator, along with dishes for those staying longer. They also had pots and pans, which I wasn't sure where we would use them as there was no stove :/ Although they provided breakfast, we had to get in our car and drive to the main lodge to get it. Breakfast was marginal, coffee was ok. The restaurant was nice, good food and full bar. It was the end of their season, so not all of the shops were open. This was very close to most of the monuments.

Nice place but "breakfast" a negative
The place was nice, convenient to Mt. Rushmore. We were there for two days. The negative was the "breakfast". Nothing hot except the coffee. No eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, etc., nothing to eat with a fork. That was the sole place on our two-week vacation with no real breakfast, and the reason we would find some other place the next time.

We were running late after experiencing some road delays. Called the lodge and koa 8 different times and messaged them to ensure we could check in late and someone would be there. No one picked up or answered. We were charged for the room and when I called to try to get a refund I was sent to a voicemail and never was called back.

Front desk staff friendly and the facility was clean. Centrally located to all SD has to offer. We didn’t know until we arrived everything had been closed for the season. We were disappointed as there were no shops or restaurants open on the grounds and no activities going on. We were not aware of this when I made the reservations. This should be noted when reservations are being made. We will be back! Maybe next time it will be when the KOA is up and running with full staff and activities.

This is a very nice facility. It is in a beautiful area and has very friendly staff. We came after labor day so some of the shops were closed but we still enjoyed the pool and side by side rentals. Breakfast could've been better but wasn't bad.

This is a very nice hotel and lodge located centrally in the black hills of south dakota. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean with a very nice Back porch overlooking the pool and pickle ball courts. Breakfast room was OK with the usual selections of cereal yogurt, coffee pastries and so forth. The Camp ground, Camp store, dining hall and tavern,and other amenities were very interesting, Lively, And nice to have. We didn't get to ride the horses but theyre there if you want to. Overall, a very nice place to stay and so conveniently located In a beautiful setting in the very middle of the black hills near mount rushmore. I would highly recommend to stay there.

The property is a KOA campground, that’s ok and maybe it said that but I didn’t read that in the description so I was surprised. It’s more about the RV stuff and not so much of a lodge. The staff is very nice and accommodating.

I love the calmness of the camp despite the amount of people that are there. We loved the horse ride and the guides are very knowledgeable. We will continue to stay at the lodge at Palmers Gulch when we visit SD.

The room was in great shape, comfortable bed , clean lost of things to do, limited parking , too many golf carts in parking spots, the breakfast wasn't much was expecting a little better if you were gluten free good luck nothing but sweets.

Our room was covered in mold in the bathroom. They did allow us to move. The bedding is disgustingly old. The showers/bathtubs are also very old. Hot water is nonexistent, it’s warm.

Overall great facility. Our room did have some mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. We notified the front desk and they had a new room ready for us within a couple hours. I would for sure stay again.

This place is fantastic for the kids. Lots of activities. Location in the Black Hills and Custer SP couldn't be better. My kids were very sad to leave!

This is a pretty amazing property a lot of different activities to do. We are possibly planning on anther vacation here next year but in a cabin. Highly recommend remembering your own towels and sunscreen though. We bought some at the little store and they are pretty expensive, but that's what we get for not remembering our own!
