We enjoyed our stay here. It was in a off beat location, very interesting if you want to see the non touristy side of Sicily. You will need a car if you want to visit the many excellent sites in the area. Etna is close as is Taormina and we even drove down to Siracusa for the day from here. Catania airport is about is just over an hour's drive away. The owner, Valentino and the staff were very helpful and friendly. October 2014
We enjoyed our 2 day stay in this rather out of the way hotel but it is a fine base for exploring round Etna. Good value and excellent dinner.
Unfortunately we were locked out at 10.15pm after going for an evening stroll so I would suggest that a key be provided or a staff member be on duty. We did get in eventually after attracting the attention of another guest!
We received a free upgrade to a Junior Suite, with split levels where our two kids were able to sleep downstairs. Upstairs had another king size bed with separate air conditioning unit. The Junior Suite was very spacious with a small balcony. I believe even the normal rooms are quite big. Rooms had no kettle though to make your own tea and coffee. Breakfast is of good quality. You can request for a packed breakfast if you have to leave for excursions or trips before breakfast time at 7am. Hotel is located in a small village, nothing much to do. So, a car is highly recommended. Mount Etna is about 35 mins drive away- something definitely worth visiting to the top with cable car and 4X4 excursion.
If you are looking for a lovely hotel in a quiet scenic location, this is for you. Conveniently located to access Etna and nearby cities.
The food was amazing and the staff were outstanding. The room was a good size and very comfortable.
Would definitely go back.
The only negative was the outdoors pool was not heated, but that is minor.
Even though this place is very isolated, there is a magnificent view of the live volcano on Mount Etna. Surprising as it may seem the resort contains all the necessities you would find in a city center. One drawback though, the staff barely speaks English so communication tends to be troublesome at times.
