Right on the ski field (can literally walk out door and you are there). But Hotel in less than optimal condition: cracks in some windows on main doors, tired condition generally, rooms about a 3* condition. Bathroom poor condition (bath did not even drain properly - bath maybe installed on an angle?). Quite expensive for its quality. Not sure the high premium for staying there is worthwhile.

The staff were amazing, letting us check super early and couldn't be more helpful when letting us use the storage area. Room was what we expected.

Had a great stay at the Chalet. Hotel is conveniently located right on the main ski run, so it made it very easy to hit the slopes. Room was an older style, but very clean and had everything we needed. We tried the main restaurant, which was also really nice.

Harry and his team turned a negative (Mt Buller taxi keeping us waiting over 3 hours) into a positive (arranging transfer in the chalet mini bus back to the long term car park) with their affable nature and cheerful disposition!

We stayed in a king kitchenette studio on the 5th floor, overlooking the Burke St run. It was lovely and modern, with oven, stove & sink but (oddly) no microwave. The room was stinking hot ALL the time, even with all the heaters off and the windows open. Location was good; very central to everything. If we ever returned to Mt Buller, we'd probably stay here again, but would try to get a room across the hall, overlooking the valley & other mountains instead. On the Burke St side, you are forced to listen to loud commercial radio all day long, as it's annoyingly pumped onto the ski run outside. The Bird Cage cafe on site was terrible, with disgusting food. The staff at the Chalet ski hire on site lied when we asked for information, presumably to make an unnecessary sale. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly, but gave out copious amounts of incorrect information, which was very unhelpful. There seems to be a general disdain on the mountain for outsiders and newcomers; there was a very insular and unwelcoming vibe overall, and we felt as if we'd walked into the "family camp" from Dirty Dancing weeks in and were intruding. Very strange. Don't bother going in the last week of the season. Despite the heavily advertised "snow guarantee", most businesses on the mountain and ski hire, etc., in Mansfield close at the end of September. There were only three restaurants open for dinner, numerous runs and lifts were closed, the cinema was closed, etc.

Ideally situated in the center of the village. Easy access to chairlifts. Liked having the equipment and clothing rental shop in the same building. Thoroughly enjoyed the four night stay and so did the grandkids.

Great stay spring skiiing.
We had a great time spring skiing and enjoyed the end of season discounted rates. Location is excellent at bottom of Bourke St, out the door and onto the slopes. Easy to come back for lunch which saves big $$$'s. Staff where friendly and cheerfully accommodated our additional requests. Used the ski hire in the building which was convenient but will try some where else next time to get better fitting and more comfortable boots. Kitchenette was basic but had all we required. happy to recommend.

2nd time we stayed this snow season 2nd time round was even better than the first. Staff was extra amazing especially Hannnah made our second stay there a much more enjoyable one than the first (not that we didn’t enjoy our stay there the first time) would definitely be staying there next season especially if the staff will be the same !!! A Pleasant Stay
We stayed one night at the mt Buller Chalet & experienced a very pleasant stay. The staff were very helpful & friendly, the hotel is ideally located in the centre of town and is perfect to access all facilities. We would definitely like to book this hotel again.

Absolutely fantastic!
Last minute booking at a massively reduced rate - we took the room for a typical twin share plus two kids rate and were amazed to find that we’d scored the Lakeside Penthouse! Two bedrooms, three bathrooms, full kitchen, dining room, lounge room, open fire, jukebox and even a Ducati in the lounge room! Absolutely fantastic stay!

Could have been so much better if they tried a little. The location was great, being able to walk out to the door to the lifts was awesome. The room looked great but the beds were horrible. The floor would've been more comfortable. I've never had such hard beds in my life, and I'm a small woman. The sofa bed was ok in comparison but that in itself is saying something. The room was very clean and had a tea station. That was it. Half of our interactions with the staff were very rude and disappointing. The Black Cockatoo meals were tasty but we didn't even get a discount for bringing our own bread and the staff were so so in there service. We had an unfortunate incident our first night as a man was assaulted outside, he got into the hotel at 3am and ran up and down the corridors shouting that the staff were trying to kill him, bleeding every where, banging on all our doors and yelling for help, then pulled the fire alarm, finally the police and ambulance came and took 2 men away. The hotel staff didn't handle the situation well at all in the wake of the incident either. They made no attempt to contact anyone who was affected. The pool and spa were so heavily chlorinated that we itched for days afterwards even after we showered and my eyes were watering just from the fumes sitting in the spa. This review sounds like I'm very fussy but I'm the most easy going person. Try elsewhere would be my advice. Thankfully the snow was so good it outshone the accommodation.

This place is progressively going down hill, we have been coming here over a number of years and amenities keep on disappearing. This year without notice the included breakfast was canceled and the couches from the foyer were removed. What's going next?

Sofa Bed was bent & impossible for two people to sleep on. One child resorted to sleeping on the floor. (Maintenance was requested but nothing was done) The king sized bed was sagging on one side. There were holes in the bathroom grout & the toilet ran constantly. The "hair dryer" was a wall mounted blower from the 1970's. A couple of sachets of cheap coffee, a small serve of long life milk & a few tea bags were the only in-room "comforts" offered. Not so much as a sachet of hot chocolate for the children. Despite booking for four people the room was made up for two. We had to request extra pillows, cups, towels etc etc. Woodwork tired, door hinges broken - you get the picture. Lobby lounge has been removed & reception relocated to downstairs store-room. Skeleton staff mean that rooms weren't serviced before 3pm. The whole place is clearly being run into the ground prior to being sold off to private investors. Very disappointing after having been a return visitor over many years. I felt embarrassed for the overseas visitors who paid for a 5 star hotel. Save your money. The days of this place being anything more than 3 star are OVER.

My family and I stay here each year - changes to services offered this year have left me underwhelmed and likely to consider alternative accommodation in future. Having no towels available at the pool, no porter service or bed turn down service and no breakfast service offered means the chalet no longer stands out from the rest. Location is still without rival and the pool area; although in need of some repair; is great for families.

Wasnt sure what to expect after reading the reviews..however was pleasantly surprised..arrived earlier than expected..staff very accommodating and provided an earlier than expected checkin..room was spacious and clean..although must say the room did get quite hot throughout the night..luckily the windows could open..we enjoyed the pool/spa area but didnt get to try the inhouse restaurants due to time restrictions..excellent location close to everything..would definitely stay again..thanks

Heater in room and bathroom is warm and comfortable to sleep. Hot water is good in the shower. Pillows are too flat and one of the light in bathroom is not working. Fridge is not that cold and cupdoor to the fridge is unable to close. The room we in is not up to the prize standard. I won’t recommend PoPo kitchen. Overall, pleasant stay and hope all rooms can be up to the standard as it’s pricey per night.

Mould in the bathroom, people vacuuming at 4am, room too hot even without the heating on...who keeps there bedroom window open in the snow overnight? The spa was over chlorinated and made us sick - coughing fits...not safe for kids

Great position, very convenient and helpful staff. Stored luggage for us before check in time and sent a text message when the room was ready, five hours before the advertised time. Also let us store luggage after check out so that we could ski for the full day.

Worst hotel ever!
It's pretty poor when you arrive at 9pm to a hotel and you can't get any food! 3.5hr drive from Melbourne and not even a sandwich, service was a joke. We all now its end of session and most the staff is back packers or locals looking for a few extra dollars but when you pay $350 a night you would expect some manners!!

Awesome 1st experience staying in Chalet Mt Buller
Loved it. Love the friendly and amazing accommodating staff. brekky was great except for the instant coffee. Maybe a Nespresso system would help ease the frustrations of people's feedback. Otherwise overall great place for the family to stay.
