Great location

Posted 26-Sep-2016
Arrived at 3:00pm and had to wait until after 5 to get our room. They originally told us it would be ready between 3:30 and 4. Words of advise "don't over promise and under deliver"

Beware, if you stay here, very noisy. U wont sleep

Posted 26-Sep-2016
Pros: The room was clean.
Cons: Get some hotel staff that can address loud parties so the remainder of the guests can get some sleep.
Location: The wharf is a short walk away.
Unfortunately the sound proofing for the rooms is very poor. Combine this with a bunch of drunks hanging out on the room balconies yelling and screaming and you won't get any sleep. The hotel staff would not do anything about it. I think they were scared of them as multiple rooms were involved and they were pretty rough characters. Bottom line is it went on very late into the evening and we didn't get much sleep. I'd expect better than this for $300 a night. All the positives are erased when you can't get much sleep. I would never stay there again as the hotel staff won't control the problem. It was like staying at a motel 6.

Location: Great location for walking historic district and Fishermens' Wharf
One night stay on busy weekend in Monterey. The adjoining conference center is under renovation so the porte cochère is obstructed.

Staff friendly and helpful however overall hotel condition was poor. Entire floor smelled like wet dogs! Room was next to bar and extremely noisy at night.

Not worth the price

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: The look of it and little "amenities" included with the room.
Cons: Already covered in my write-up on the "experience." Too much money for what you get.
Location: It's Monterey . . . there's an ocean and all kinds of shopping, restaurants, the aquarium, water sports, etc. nearby.
The hotel and room were very nice, but I've stayed in others that were just as nice but less pricy. The bed was too soft, giving me a back ache that woke me up every hour or so, and neither my husband nor I liked the pillows. We were told we had a room with a view of the patio, which we didn't expect to be anything particularly special, but as it turned out, the only view we had (when we walked out our room to the balcony) was of a side ally complete with trash cans - very unattractive. The kicker was finding out on the morning we left that there's a $19 fee to park in the hotel's parking garage! We won't go back there again. After paying as much as we did for the night's stay, finding out they don't even cover the parking was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Smelled like tar

Posted 18-Sep-2016
As soon as we stepped off elevator our floor smelled of roofing tar. It was terrible. Luckily they were very friendly and gave us another room

Pros: Hotel staff very helpful and friendly.
Great hotel in good location of Monterey. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They sent a bottle of wine to our room since we were celebrating our anniversary with a card signed by them. It was very thoughtful.

Located centrally within walking distance to cannery row, the wharf etc.. Very clean, excellent, friendly staff. Wouldn't think twice about staying there again in the future.

Pros: The room amenities, the room service, the tranquility, the entire staff.
Cons: Maybe blackout drapes?
Location: The location was the best, you can walk to restaurants, pier, do shopping,
At first glance we were not impressed because the hotel is going through renovations, but once inside its gorgeous and the location the the best. We were able to walk without ever having to drive. We loved the location, we were near everything, we didn't have the need to drive. We had the best view from our balcony. We enjoyed the Italian festival from our room. We originally planned to stay one day but stay an additional night. We will return.

Close to Cannery Row and Fisherman's Warf

Posted 08-Sep-2016
We love this hotel, it is close to the Scuba boats so my wife can be in walking distance to the Fisherman Warf and Cannery Row while I dive. On one side of the hotel is the tourist side and the other down town eateries.
