Nice-but-dated motel in a great location

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: Staff were friendly, room was clean. Excellent location.
Cons: Parking can be a pain if you arrive too late to get limited street parking spots and have a tall car that might not fit in their underground garage.
Location: It's about a mile walk along the water from the aquarium and fisherman's wharf (my 6-year-old had no trouble), which made this a perfect place to stay
This was a nice place, albeit a bit dated, and about what we expected for the price range. Location is excellent, though be aware that the free busses to the Aquarium do not run this direction so you'll have a (very pleasant) 1-mile walk along the waterfront.

Outdated but close to beach

Posted 22-Aug-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Needs upgrade
Location: Right next to beach
Location is great, staff was nice as well. Room is "okay" almost like a time travel to the 70's. Tiny bathroom, room seems clean. If you only stay for a night or two it should suffice.

Great place to stay

Posted 13-Aug-2016
Pros: Location, staff, and comfort
Cons: Shower water pressure...
Location: Lovers Point Park across the street, trail to Monterey Bay aquarium and Cannery Row is right there, short walk to the old town area with its shops...
When I go to Monterey, this is the first place I check for availability. I have stayed here several times and have never been disappointed. Friendly staff, quiet rooms, fairly affordable considering the area. This hotel is directly across from Lovers Point Park and Monterey Bay. The pedestrian walk/bike path that goes all the way to Cannery Row begins at the park. Parking is a bit challenging, but if there is no place out front, there is always a spot in the underground garage, just a little tight for maneuvering. The rooms are nicely decorated, and the pillows are great (I have to have good pillows).

OK hotel with very convenient location

Posted 12-Aug-2016
The hotel is older but the room was clean. No AC. The Lover's Point location is great with convenient access to the bike path across the street. There's a very sheltered beach across the street which is an excellent kayak launching point. Kayak and bicycle rentals are available at the beach

Close to beach but......

Posted 02-Aug-2016
We were not given the room we reserved--king bed with partial ocean view. We were told it was not possible and they didn't know if there was a price difference. the room we got had a queen bed, a VERY strong bleach smell, the phone and shower did not work (not even a plug for the bath), and was at the top of stairs so very noisy. A call to Expedia helped the situation somewhat, but couldn't wait to leave in the morning!

Decent hotel next to the beach

Posted 31-Jul-2016
This hotel was a convenient location and the staff was amazing but the room was run down. Very small. And you can hear everyone's conversation outside your door so I could imagine what they could hear outside the room.

Really good spot in a really special place

Posted 29-Jul-2016
Really enjoyed our stay here. rooms spacious and comfortable (bed was heaven!). Had a bit of an issue with the pilot light generating a weird amount of heat in midsummer...but the accommodating and super friendly staff put that to right promptly. The place is a bit shopworn, but other than aesthetics this hindered a great stay here not a whit. The location cannot be beat. The continental breakfast was terrific (raisin bread: five stars!, coffee: meh!-simply put, it was lousy but that's what you get with one of those machines found in every bad office I've ever visited). Owner's a piece of quirky work-but in a good way. Lovers' Point is one of my favorite places in the world. And though it has changed much over the years, it remains very special. Lovers Point Inn does it justice.

At Lover's Point and easy to Park

Posted 18-Jul-2016
Juliana is a fun host and checked us in early. Made us fee very welcomed. Location is across the street from Lover's Point. A little walk to the Aquarium that we enjoyed with incredible views. Room was smal but cozy, nothing spectacular but bed was comfortable, clean room and all the basic amenities plus free parking.

Honeymooner's retreat.

Everything was great until I took my shower. The shower head must not have been sealed correctly because it sprayed water all over the bathroom.

This inn is close to the beach where you can walk. The staff was great.
