NClean and good value but in a shady area.

Posted 10-Dec-2017
The hotel is very nice and a great value for the price. Clean and conveniently located. And it’s pet friendly which was great for our medium sized dog. The draw back is there were several shady characters just walking around outside. Didn’t seem like the safest location. Especially compared with rest of Monterey. If you’re just passing through for a night and need a good value then I’d recommend it.

Clean and Comfortable with a few caveats

Posted 06-Dec-2017
Pros: Close to a Whole Foods and upscale shopping center. The price was great and the room was very clean and comfortable.
Cons: incompletely stocked: had tea but no coffee packets even though there was an in room coffee maker. There were also no cups to use for the tea.
Location: Shopping center across the highway had Whole Foods, cafes and typical shopping center stores.
The room was clean but incompletely stocked. The bed was super comfortable. The room was cold when I came in but the heater was amazing and got everything nice and toasty warm. Fridge and coffeemaker (but not coffee or cups for it.) The main weird thing was there is a gas station/convenience store in the parking lot of the motel where some people were congregating. Not sure waiting to buy drugs or panhandling or what. When I got out of the car to go check in, as I was walking into the office area, a guy walked up to my car and looked inside it. I'm a single woman traveling alone. I didn't feel unsafe in my room with the door locked at all. But I would not have gone out to my car that night if I had left something there.

Thanksgiving holiday 2017

Posted 27-Nov-2017
Too many issues with maintenance. Had to move to 3 different rooms in one day! Toilets did not flush. Plumbing issues no internet and TV was ancient. I felt sorry for the staff. Avoid and search other property.

Great hotel for the price! Short drive to Cannery Row and Fisherman’s Wharf. Walking distance to the mall and Whole Foods!

too many things wrong

Posted 11-Nov-2017
Pros: Decent food in restaurant.. Nothing special.. But eatable..And breakfast waitress was excellent...
Cons: Everything.. See above....
Location: Well located near Del Monte Shopping Center...Walkable...
I stayed once before about April of 2017...Nothing has improved since then.. There is no heater in bathroom.. When I was there, it was 38 degrees inside bathroom... Impossible to take a shower with no heat...Caulking around tub starting to deteriorate.. The window looking out onto parking lot is single paned... No insulation.. So, in order to stay warm in this case you have to run the heater..But the heater has no thermostat.. So you have to get up, walk across room and turn it on and off as needed...Imagine at night getting up every hour and a half to do this??? ONe bright spot was front desk crew of Armi and Rich.. Quite helpful during my stay.. Rich was able to unplug the refrigerator so as to stop it from just making so much noise.. It was useless.. I would not recommend anyone stay there till they clean it up, fix up amenities etc.. Of course, if they do that, the price will go up as well.. Your choice...

Just ok, but nice off-season price

Posted 07-Nov-2017
Pros: Right off the freeway so we avoided any downtown traffic. Off-season price was great. Would not have paid over $200 for it as they want in the summer
Cons: Doors separating the room hallway from the stairwell. Blanket in closet just in case.
Location: Access to the freeway. Didn't sound like we were near it.
Phone was dead in our room, no blankets and the heater didn't have a control setting. Stairwell needs doors because throughout the night when someone was using the stairs and talking to someone it sounded like an echo-ie party at our front door. That was a drag. Room met the expectations in a way considering in November it was just over $100/night.
