Located in Montaione, Villa Sestilia is in a rural location. Teatro del Silenzio and Museo Diocesano d'Arte Sacra di San Miniato are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta and Monastery of San Vivaldo. Travelling with kids? Consider The SottoVico Garden, or check out an event or a game at Stadio Carlo Castellani.Visit our Montaione travel guide
Villa Sestilla is a home that has been converted to a B&B in the last ten years. It is part of a compound in the Tuscan countryside that includes a restaurant and two swimming pools, located within an hour or so of Florence, Lucca, Pisa, and Siena. The facilities have great potential, but fall short of what they could be due to being somewhat outdated (pools) and poor execution (restaurant). Nevertheless, the accommodation is comfortable and provides fine value despite failing to fulfill its considerable potential. The availability of a free washing machine was a great convenience on an extended vacation.
Pros: The room and breakfast were both very good. The front desk staff (Delia) was excellent.
Cons: The related restaurant had very slow service and food that was only average, despite its Michelin listing. This needs attention.
Location: The compound is in the country 5 km or so from Montaione. It is a reasonable drive to all main Tuscan locations, but really close to none.
