Historical mansion close to downtown

Posted 07-Feb-2016
We liked the comfortable spacious room and the nice traditional breakfast in the elegant dining room. The inn is steeped in history and tradition and a convenient and safe place to stay when visiting Mobile during Mardi Gras or any other time as well.

Quick trip Delight

Posted 23-Dec-2015
Pros: Rooms were very clean. High 12 foot ceilings! Beautifully decorated
Cons: We forgot to get the WiFi number before heading out. When we returned it was too late to call. It might be nice to post it in the rooms.
Location: Close to downtown activity. We ate at a local pub. Great atmosphere. Yummy burgers.
This was a last minute trip. I use to live in Mobile and wanted to experience true old Mobile hospitality. Sorry it was a one night stay. We plan to return. Beautiful pool! Yummy pancakes and eggs with sausage. Delightful!

night stayover while we visited mobile

Posted 14-Nov-2015
Pros: beautiful garden and pool area nice clean room, good food and charming people
Cons: we liked it - dont feel it needs any changes
Location: location was central, which was one of the reasons we picked it. we went to see the battleship us alabama, which is a very interesting day out.
we really enjoyed our stay, only wish it could have been longer. we were made very welcome, and were given a lovely room, very private with use of the main house, and pool area, which I have to say is such a beautiful place to sit and relax. Stephen made our breakfast in the morning, which we were told was a southern dish was very enjoyable. He then sat and spend time just chatting away to us over a cuppa. Would we go back...in a minute. Nothing seems a bother to them, the house is stunning, the food is good and the place is immaculate. 10/10 for your southern hospitality

Wonderful! We will be back.

We had a wonderful time. The Bread and Breakfast is very conveniently located. We were able to check in early and met Steve who greeted us and gave us a tour of the historic residence. Our room was very comfortable. The bed was firm. The bathroom was adjacent to the bedroom. We understand that each of the 3 rooms has its own private bath. We swam in the pool and relaxed in the hot tub. The pool area is relaxing and almost tropical. Breakfast in the morning in the formal dining room was superb. We had eggs with peppers and sausage, fruit and grits. The grits were garlic and cheese and were absolutely fantastic. We enjoyed our time visiting with Steve. He also recommended the Kitchen on George for dinner and we went there and had a fabulous dinner. The only complaint is that the entrance to the driveway from Governors Drive is a sharp turn and it must be anticipated. We will be back, even though the drive from California, our home state, is far. Even if we fly to Mobile we will reserve a room. We have never been big on staying at B&B's but this one is absolutely wonderful.

Thank you for your review! Garlic cheese grits are internationally know due to three travel guide books in Danish, German, and Dutch. Thank you for letting people know about our sub-tropical garden, Secret Healing Gardens. Looking forward in seeing you again in Mobile, as you travel in the Deep South.

Welcoming and knowledgeable hosts

Pros: Location and hospitality
Location: Food, museums, tours. Mobile has it all.
Even before we arrived, Steven Gave us tips of what to see based on our interests. Then, his food tips were perfect. Truly an ambassador for mobile.
