We stayed at the grand penthouse. Very worth the money! Spectacular views, beach and jungle! We got all inclusive, very high quality foods and drinks. Just one thing, there aren't many options on the menus, specially for room service.
The beach was beautiful as well as the resort. The food could be a bit better but not displeasing enough to keep me from going back. My boyfriend and I are in our mid 20's and found the entertainment to be pleasing. The beach is stunning as well as the wild life and scenery that surrounds the hotel. The spa isn't heavily advertised but I would recommend visiting while staying. We had a couples massage that was worth the $60 USD as it was by the beach and we could hear the ocean throughout the whole massage. The hotel seemed to be accommodating to all types of vacationers as we saw families, couples, older folks and natives. We went without having booked any activities so the fact that there were plenty of vendors as well as information provided for us both on the beach and in the hotel we had a booked vacation. We can't wait to return next year.
Villa Lala is a beautiful place away from the hustle and bussle of the city. The hosts pampered us and made us feel very welcome. The food was very good. Suggestion: need a menu with prices beforehand instead of a random bill at the end of your stay for meals and wine. Since they don't take credit cards, we were glad we had enough cash on us. Despite the 45 minute (with no traffic) $40 taxi to the airport, it was still a wonderful experience.
"Wrist bands made me feel trap and as a merchandise"
We got a wrist bAnd on our first day and we were told we should keep them at all times. That made me feel as if I had been branded; and I did not see the point of wearing the wrist bands. More over, my room was last on one side of the building and next to what seems to had been the service room and I just could not stand the noisy I heard at midnight. The dirty business between share time and tours sellers is nasty. They harass you whenever you happen to pass by the lobby. We should be free of that harassment at least in the hotel.
We had a great stay at Mismaloya Hotel Suites. Wonderful staff, great activities all around us. Bus services every 15 minutes on the minute - better than any in Canada or U.S. PV short bus ride away. Lots to do, or as little as you want. Fabulous pool. Town of Mismaloya has some great restaurants, and offers all foods that we required. Away from the hustle of large city, and very unique setting.
good rate, quiet hotel not alot of guests. easy to find and friendly staff.
endless pool needed more water, no coffee maker in the rooms. could use a thorough clean in the rooms. a bit musty and mildewy wouldn't recommend it for anyone with asthma.
great view. if you're an independent traveller that doesn't need the amenities of a hotel and spend most of your time adventuring this hotel is for you. on the highway between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo so a great spot to start from if you're exploring the southern Jalisco coast.
I would stay again.
A smoldering, behind-the-scenes affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton put Puerto Vallarta on the tourist map. Burton was on location in Mismaloya for John Huston’s 1964 film, The Night of the Iguana. Today, visitors can see the ruins of the film site in the hills above town. Mismaloya remains a small town where beachside huts serve the catch of the day with cold cerveza (beer).)
