Great to sleep in a castle.

Posted 05-Aug-2017
Staff got us into the dungeon even though I had forgot to make reservation for dinner. So much fun to eat there. We were on a low floor--ground level, almost basement. If I were to book again I would request a higher floor. Breakfast was good in the other restaurant. Lot's of choices. Very Scottish. Parking on grounds, easy walk to door. Walked the grounds--nice hike to ruins. We had a problem with internet even in the public areas.

WOW is all we can say. We had a great time

Posted 31-Jul-2017
Pros: I cant think of a thing I did not like.
Cons: The weather LOL everything else was great
Location: We went to Edinburgh castle after that and was very disappointed it was crowded and the other tourists were asshole. The castle was a waste of time
Everyone we ran into was helpful and friendly making our stay that much better. Food is top notch and the grounds were perfect. We also did the full falconry experience and that was amazing. The guy new his birds and was very proud and knowledgeable about them and the sport. He took his time and was patient with the birds and respected them. We loved the castle and took hundreds of pictures. Thank you for a great memory.

Very disappointing dinner

Posted 12-Jul-2017
Booked the stay, dinner and breakfast. Some furniture is a little tired but 4 post bed in a castle is a cool experience. However, very poor dinner and Wifi made it an average stay.

Nice castle with a great location on the shore.

Pros: It's location.
Cons: Room décor.
Location: Great walks on the beach with breathtaking views.
This was one of three castles my husband and I stayed in during our trip around the UK. For us, the view around the grounds and the view from the main areas was quite superb. Hospitality was wonderful, and the breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I was just a bit disappointed in the décor of our bedroom. It did not lend it self to the "castle feel." It looked like a standard hotel chain type of bedroom. I am quite sure there are other bedrooms available in the castle that might look more charming, but ours did not. In fact, one of the other guests could not rave enough about how her room looked, which made us feel even more let down. I feel it would serve the castle hotel well to try to slowing start converting the décor in ALL the rooms to reflect the "castle stay experience."

Cool castle but would not recommend it

Posted 02-Jun-2017
Pros: The aviary
Cons: the customer service
We were really excited about staying in a castle while near Edinburgh and were very disappointed. The check in took an inordinate amount of time. We reserved two room and had requested they be close together, that didn't happen. We had dinner in the restaurant, Orange room, and had some of the worst service I have experienced in years. There is slow, and then there was our waiter. We ordered, and 45 mins later were told that they didn't have the burger that my daughter had ordered. But then it came out 30 mins later. Ordered a bottle of white wine. It took over 1/2 hour to come out. And it came out warm. They had dunked it in ice water for 10 mins and thought that was fine. Rooms were tight, beds were old. Find another castle to stay in.

Had a wonderful stay at the castle, beautiful property to walk about. Staff was helpful and the use of facilities was wonderful but lots of stairs which my mother found difficult!

Exceptional grounds and a lovely experience to stay in a castle! The hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The quality of the food in their restaurant was impressive!! My compliments to their Chef! Upstairs Library lounge is like stepping into another century....warm and welcoming.

Lovely castle, good location

Posted 29-May-2017
Everything was lovely however the only problem was we were expecting to stay in the castle but we ended up getting taken 2 minutes away to a seperate building. We were just a bit disappointed with that so we didn't get to see much of the castle. The room we were taken to though was very nice and the breakfast was good.
