Excellent stay
What can i say absolutely stunning picturesque location, freindly staff high standard of cleanliness, food was beautiful. This beautiful tudor style building was perfect stay. Some may say dated i say in keeping with the style of the building beds was extremely comfortable and spacious in a well lay out and perfectly equipped room. A hidden gem cant wait to return. I have stayed in many ultra modern spa hotel 4 * plus and the service and food havent been good. This hotel out done them all well done to all the staff in the reception, Spa, restaurant and the tavern. You made us very welcome

Location and rooms fantastic, staff again fantastic, food was good but a bit limited and slightly cold I e breakfast and the service in the evening was dreadfully slow

Extremely nice hotel, with helpful friendly staff in a beautiful location. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars are the rooms and hallways are a little tired and could do with sprucing up. The food in the main restaurant was wonderful, and covered all the various tastes for our group asked for. Can also recommend the spa. Hope you enjoy your day.

Just returned from a two night break at the hotel, our second visit there. Very safe to stay during the current pandemic especially the outdoor bar and picnic area. Disappointed that spa area and adjacent bar was closed but obviously can’t be helped due to the current situation. Food and service excellent and the views from every room stunning. Will definitely return sometime.
Outside bar and picnic area - excellent idea during this pandemic.

For such an expensive hotel...£164 for a wall veiw....its filthy and needs a cash injection and a damn good clean......lovely veiws from the front full stop

highly recommended!
Stayed overnight during a stop over in the area. I was impressed with the overall management of the COVID-19 and social distancing measures that were in place throughout the hotel. This offered Peace of mind and reassurance. We were alas people given a welcome pack which contained guidance, face masks and sanitiser gel. The location was excellent, the (twin) room was well proportioned, and the food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. I would certainly stay at the hotel next time we are in the area.

Lovely room, terrible restaurant
The room was lovely with fantastic views, the bed was sooo comfortable. We ate in the restaurant, the service was very good, but the food not so, I had the sea bass and found the skin wasn’t crispy and the risotto was like rice pudding, fairly disgusting. But otherwise a lovely hotel.

A little taste of heaven ......
This was a delightful place to stay. Incredible views over the Lake. Wonderful food and service that is so friendly and good. Although very comfortable room the decor is a little dated and tired, but don’t let that put you off.

Beautiful Hotel
Amazing location if you are interested in nature, hiking, and kayaking. We spent 2 nights there with 2 kids and a dog, it was really breathtaking experience. If you can, book rooms with a view of the lake - really worth it! The breakfast was amazing, the dinner were very good too! The hotel has a lot of history behind, so it has his own charm ;-)

We really liked the lake view from our room and the homely feel of the hotel. Overall we thought our stay was excellent although 49 individual stair up to our room did become a bit much. We liked it a lot.

2 days in the valley.
Enjoyable stay at the hotel, just an issue with one of the room descriptions being wrong, valley view room was actually overlooking the car park. This should be resolved by the hotel/hotels.com asap so that other visitors do not have the same problem.

Overnight stay for business
Food bill wasn’t transferred onto room and I was asked if I could wait 30min when checking out for someone to arrive to operate the computer system! Checked out just before 7am and couldn’t have any breakfast (paid for) because breakfast doesn’t start until 8am. Sound proofing in rooms poor. Could hear downstairs guests talking until 1am followed by snoring. Wasn’t offered any apology or alternatives

Great location and excellent service. Very dog friendly which made our stay so much more relaxing. We stayed in one of the Lake View Room which had nice nice bathroom with a large basic bedroom area. Would have preferred to have been able to control the room temperature as is was quite cold

I’ll be back
Arrived at the hotel after dinner had finished, was kindly offered a cheese board to be sent up to the room. From then on in, it was just a wonderful stay with friendly and helpful staff and views to die for. Very relaxing.

Location is stunning, rooms clean but tired. Bathroom cleanliness was not great, also tired and in need of attention. Toilet cleanliness was terrible, out of sight area behind toilet lid was filthy, cleaners obviously never put lid down? Breakfast was only mediocre, poor quality sausages, baked beans you literally get 1 tablespoon in a little pot! Considering the premium price, I think this hotel is resting on its laurels and location. Always wanted to stay here but the experience didn’t live up to expectations.

I loved the peace and serenity we experienced during our stay. The best thing about the hotel I have to be honest is the view, breathtaking, but the beauty and authenticity of the hotel is no less. What I didn't like was the fact that we had to drive suite far to get to restaurants or other local amenities

Picturesque Views for a Birthday treat
We thought the service was excellent, the staff couldn't do enough for you and the dogs were very welcome in the places they were allowed in Hotel. The food was excellent, the only issue we had was we tried to book a spa treatment, but they were fully booked, it was our fault as we did leave it kind of last minute, but thought it being mid week it wouldn't be quite so busy, so lesson learnt !

Beautiful location for a getaway.
The hotel is in an amazingly beautiful location perched high above the stunning Lake Vyrnwy and close to the dam. The hotel is warm and welcoming and an ideal spot to take in all the local area has to offer. To be honest we thought the room decor was looking a little dated but it was comfortable enough and it was worth paying the little extra for a lake view room. The hotel does probably need a bit of money spending on it to bring it up modern standards (it has incredible potential we felt) but all in all it was a very pleasant stay and we would happily return.

Leave your dog at home!
I don’t want to be overly negative because the setting is magnificent and if we hadn’t travelled with a dog, our experience would have been better. This hotel states it’s dog friendly but it isn’t! There are kennels outside for your dog if that’s what they prefer (gun dogs!!) but our miniature schnauzer has to be with us. She was allowed in our room, and in restaurant. But... she was not allowed into breakfast, or the bar, or lounges of which there were two with log fires and big comfy chairs!! No, we had a few chairs under the stairs with no view and beside the front door!! Breakfast could only be served in bedroom (nowhere to eat except perched on lap on edge of bed). We twisted their arm and ate it in restaurant around the cleaner and smell of bleach! Our bedroom was above the kitchens which had huge extractor fan which spewed disgusting cooking smells into our room. All my clothes stank of cooking fat! I didn’t think reception staff were helpful to us and would say this hotel is dog tolerant not dog friendly and ask for a room with a view away from kitchens but it will cost more.
