This hotel has obviously gotten a recent facelift. It was spotless, comfortable, and modern. It was not luxurious but it was very clean (my #1 criterion!); the hotel staff was friendly and helpful; the bed was comfortable; and the room had all the amenities you expect like a minifridge, robes and slippers, and of course soap, shampoo, etc.
The free breakfast included freshly made coffee/hot chocolate, eggs, sausage and bacon, potatoes, all kinds of pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, and oatmeal. They also stocked fridges with naked orange juice, sparkling and still water, and microwavable breakfast sandwiches. It was not fancy, but it certainly filled us up before we headed out for the day, and everything seemed fresh.
We didn't use the gym facilities, but we saw that the hotel had them--as well as a pool table and really nice fire pit.
This is a hotel that is obviously trying really hard to make a (deserved) comeback. We would stay here again.

Our original room had only 1 Queen bed and 1 Twin bed when we clearly requested through Expedia 2 Queen beds. The Inn owner was not personally available but was reached by phone. He said that when they receive a request through Expedia, they only know that there is a request for 2 beds but not the specifics of the size of beds requested. The Stanford Inn does not have any 2 Queen rooms, so we ended up with an inflatable bed for one of our children. Also, our original room had a nonfunctioning toilet. After discussing this with the housekeeper (who was very, very nice) she moved us to an alternate room which we considered an upgrade since it did not face the noise of El Camino Real, had hardwood floors instead of carpet, and had a ceiling fan.
