A lovely, quaint hotel just a short drive from downtown Menlo Park, University Avenue and some of the best "eats" on the peninsula. Clean, comfy enough to hang out in the room during the day, and still get restful sleep at night. One downside is the pool seems to be unheated. Even in the middle of a California summer, the pool was too cold for our stay. Great value for the price and tasty coffee in the room!

I stayed here because the hotel was close to our family reunion and the freeway. The staff were hospitable and the office had obviously undergone a recent remodel. The courtyard and parking lot were obvious that they were still being worked on but showed promise. Lastly, the living area of our room had also undergone some work and looked fairly nice, with an obvious effort to stand out from other "hole in the wall" hotels and showed promise. As was the case with the courtyard, the bathroom still needed work. I briefly spoke with an employee the next morning and he did inform me that they planned to work on them in the near future.

Our room wasn't ready until after 4:00 pm. Thereafter, all went well. We originally were to be a party of three adults in the room, but one adult did not make the trip, so only two adults used the room. I asked the hotel clerk for an adjustment in the rate and was referred to contact Expedia. Consider this my inquiry about an adjustment based on the reduction in the adult occupants, from three to two.
Our original room had only 1 Queen bed and 1 Twin bed when we clearly requested through Expedia 2 Queen beds. The Inn owner was not personally available but was reached by phone. He said that when they receive a request through Expedia, they only know that there is a request for 2 beds but not the specifics of the size of beds requested. The Stanford Inn does not have any 2 Queen rooms, so we ended up with an inflatable bed for one of our children. Also, our original room had a nonfunctioning toilet. After discussing this with the housekeeper (who was very, very nice) she moved us to an alternate room which we considered an upgrade since it did not face the noise of El Camino Real, had hardwood floors instead of carpet, and had a ceiling fan.
