Unbelievable place

Posted 29-Oct-2015 on Hotels
Unbelievable place - a cross between a small castle and a stately home. Just to warn other guests the room I stayed in had no drawers whatsoever and the only hanging space was 6 coat hangers on a hook behind a door. Any longer than one night and I would have struggled. No hair dryer either (take your own).

The house is a real curiosity, Rm 4 was light with lovely views, mattress very firm. Barbara & Carlo made the best breakfast we've had away for long time, they were very helpful and friendly.

A beautiful old house with mullioned windows

Posted 25-Oct-2015
Pros: The obvious age of the property and the setting.
Cons: There could be some information about the house, the history, and what there is to do and see in the area.
Location: Situated close to Melksham where there is a modern sports centre and plenty of shops and only a couple of miles from Trowbridge. Stone Henge not far.
Set back from the road down a drive the house stands in it's own grounds with views of Salisbury plain to the rear. Lots of wood panelling in a large hall with gallery overlooking, the house is in need of some TLC but it is clean and the couple who run it are very welcoming if a little unexpected. Quirky would be a fair description of both the house and it's staff.

Lovely stay

Posted 05-Jun-2015 on Hotels
This is a wonderful building, looks much older than it actually is. Loads of character, full of charm and wood panelling. In places a little tired, however I can imagine is a real money pit. Views wonderful, absolutely tranquil, lovely grounds. They have their own woodland walk (more of an arboretum) with a wide variety of trees, including sequoias. Room was typical of a B&B in a Victorian building, but bathroom seemed to be going update, already fitted with new suite and shower, underfloor heating and tiling, and all was clean and comfortable. Host bought in fresh flowers to our room and even an extra heater (although we didn't need it as was quite warm enough) but very thoughtful WiFi available, but somewhat slow and variable (I guess the down side of a very rural location) Barbara and Carlo couldn't have been more friendly and kind, and provided a great breakfast. All in all a great stay, good value for money, great location, would definitely stay again, to be recommended.

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: the building is very impressive the owners are very nice
Cons: the noise from adjoining rooms could have spoiled it but didn't as it was not excessive. you could be unlucky though.
Location: i only had business in melksham which is nearby so can not comment
very good guest house the owners are extremely nice people the room was very nice the only small problem is noise from the adjoining room though the floor boards.
