One night stay for business......

Posted 20-Apr-2016
Pros: Great countryside location, my room had a great open view to the rear. Parking is right outside and free and the breakfast was excellent.
Cons: The entrance room could be a little brighter with more colour.
Location: Great spot for Chippenham, Melksham and Trowbridge. Also good for Bath and Badford On Avon.
Difficult to initially gain access to the property...bell not working? I stated no to recommending to a friend as it is fair to say this B&B is quirky...it would not be everyone's "cup of tea". it was built in the mid 19th century and has a very large entrance room. 50ft by 30ft....little furniture and lots of dark wood. Very creeky floorboards everywhere. Large gallery above to two sides. These traits actually enhanced my own personal experience but not for all. If you like different...go for it.

Unbelievable place

Posted 29-Oct-2015 on Hotels
Unbelievable place - a cross between a small castle and a stately home. Just to warn other guests the room I stayed in had no drawers whatsoever and the only hanging space was 6 coat hangers on a hook behind a door. Any longer than one night and I would have struggled. No hair dryer either (take your own).

The house is a real curiosity, Rm 4 was light with lovely views, mattress very firm. Barbara & Carlo made the best breakfast we've had away for long time, they were very helpful and friendly.

A beautiful old house with mullioned windows

Posted 25-Oct-2015
Pros: The obvious age of the property and the setting.
Cons: There could be some information about the house, the history, and what there is to do and see in the area.
Location: Situated close to Melksham where there is a modern sports centre and plenty of shops and only a couple of miles from Trowbridge. Stone Henge not far.
Set back from the road down a drive the house stands in it's own grounds with views of Salisbury plain to the rear. Lots of wood panelling in a large hall with gallery overlooking, the house is in need of some TLC but it is clean and the couple who run it are very welcoming if a little unexpected. Quirky would be a fair description of both the house and it's staff.
