If you have to stay in Melbourne for a function or event in the Docklands or Southbank areas, then the Travelodge is a great place to stay.
Park the car and just walk to restaurants, bars and your venue.
I booked this hotel because of location & price
Rooms were reasonably small
The bed was comfortable but perhaps a little too soft, pillows could be firmer
Good restaurant with buffet breakfast option in morning
Quiet rooms as I didn't find noise an issue during my 1 night stay
Had an issue with our room due to an unknown source of constant banging next to the sleeping area. Staff checked it out and because it couldn't be fixed moved us to a new room. They were happy to refund some money as the room they put us in was a lower rating than the one we had previously booked. The next day they gave us a new upgraded room. Throughout this experience staff dealt with us and the issue in a calm and professional manner. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. As in most hotels pillows were on the thinner side, but we had enough in our room to ensure we could find what worked and so on both nights of our stay we had a good sleep. The hotel is across the road from public transport and Spencer St station which was an added bonus.
Meeting up with friends who flew down from QLD, whilst we were in Melbourne whilst visiting from Canada.
Hotel staff were very pleasant upon arrival and during check-in we received an upgrade to the 10th floor Business class, which was a very nice surprise.
The room was fantastic and we immediately regretted not planning to stay longer.
We met our friends in the bar downstairs for drinks, and would have stayed there for dinner except for the very strong, overpowering body odour of the guy who was serving us.
A shame as it tainted our stay in the hotel, albeit only in a minimal way.
Reception was able to direct us to alternative places for dinner, and we had a lovely time.
Australia's second-largest city, Melbourne's city centre incorporates the central business district, extending from Queen Victoria Market in the north, west to the Etihad Stadium, and south to Federation Square. The district is home to many corporate headquarters, financial institutions, theatres, Chinatown, and an established population of students and young professionals.
