The monument meaning is at the bottom Ethiopia was great and strong and when it's getting narrow it was Derg regime . And at the top it shows fallen regime and Ethiopia reborn again . Mekele is town in north if you plan visit Danakil depression or Gheralta churches you will visit this town and I am strongly recommend visit this monument and near monument there is museum as well . "I would definitely recommend staying at the Atse Yohannes hotel. The front desk was very helpful and provided a free airport shuttle, and the rooms have hot water, reasonably comfortable beds, and nice balconies. The only downside is that breakfast was rather disappointing. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by how the hotel is quite modern and clean by small-town Ethiopian standards."
