All accommodations (suites and villa's) have seaview (sunset site) and lay in a lush surrounding. There are no high-rise buildings and it's not a large hotel, but with enough activities. The food (and drinks) are excellent.

We had a great stay at the Shanthi Maurice Hotel! Lovely attentive staff, amazing room and view (we had a beachfront suite), and beautiful grounds! The only place for improvement would be the breakfast in our opinion, as we found it to be very repetitive (we stayed 4 nights and almost every day had the exact same choices). Spa is fantastic and their treatments/therapists well worth it! Would gladly return.

Great romantic getaway
We stayed at Shanti Maurice to celebrate a significant birthday and this hotel delivered perfectly. The villa, which was large and well appointed, was located on a spectacular, empty beach with stunning views and a plunge pool. It is hard to imagine a more amazing location. The staff were very welcoming and the service mostly excellent. I would love to stay there again.

Overall brilliant, a lovely setting, clean and tidy, relaxed. The only thing that could be improved is the speed of bringing out food at the restaurants, particularly at breakfast where a couple of times the food was cold it took so long.

My partner and I stayed in Shanti Maurice Resort from the 5th Feb to the 8th Feb this year. We have paid AU$ 339.04 (equals MUR 7904) for deposit for a set menu of dinner and the receptionist told us that the deposit will be returned to our account in 2 weeks time after we check out (we double checked if the deposit was refundable, and 3 receptionists confirmed with us that the deposit was refundable). It is been 3 weeks since we checked our your resort and so far the deposit has not been refunded to our account. I called the bank and they told me that the money has been transitioned by the resort. I emailed their Admin team a few times then I was told that the deposit was for non-refundable and the AU$ 339 was paid for 'supplement'???????. It was a fraud and It was a very frustrating situation as we truly enjoyed the resort and all the facilities and except the service. We also stayed in Lux Grand and Shangri-La before checking in Shanti Maurice. Both the resorts were awesome. If you have the budget for Shanti, simply book the other resorts. Save yourself the trouble.

We have reviewed your concern knowing that our Front Office Manager has been already in contact with you, has well explained the supplement you have been charged for. We understand that you have been charged for the Half Board Supplement which was requested and consumed by you for two consecutive days only out of total three days of stay. Same has been exchanged via email supported by your invoices. Despite respecting your comment, we believe that your comment that we are cheating you is invalid, has no ground and is defamatory. As mentioned to you by our Front Office Manager, shall you have any query in regards to the credit card pre-authorization which is not a payment but enables you to be eligible for a resort credit to charge extra consumption on your room account during your stay, please do not hesitate to send us a copy of your bank charges which we will double check at our end with our bank. We thank you for the time taken to read our statement and rest assure we value your comments and would like to highlight again that we practice an open communication model with a caring approach and take all comments constructively in the end. However we are professionals in our business and would comment where we feel it is not right and ethical to our business values. Perfect, Luxurious, Heavenly!
From the time we were picked up from the airport to the check in, we knew this was going to be great. The resort is beautiful, the service is perfect, the rooms are delightful, the ocean is a dream, the food is a journey through flavours and the cocktails... are the cherry on top. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone travelling alone, as a couple or with your family. We stayed in a beach access room which has the most beautiful sunset over the ocean. We then upgraded to a villa which was just a dream to be in.

Decent 4 star hotel, extremely overpriced
We were in Mauritius for 6 weeks, staying at several different hotels. Unfortunately this was the least attractive one. Rooms were pretty ok, but a bit outdated and would say like a decent 4 star hotel. Food was ok, but extremely overpriced. Not even half or full board will give you a dinner as they have priced all dishes 200% over normal prices so you have to always pay extra. A pizza at the pool will cost you 20 euro, and you will not get full from it.. Decent angus beef will cost you 50 euro. Asking for a extra bottle of water to the room will cost you 20 euro in delivery service! We stayed at amazing hotels but this was not one of them..

Shanti Maurice aim at delivering an attentive service always. The Resort is a Boutique Lifestyle Beach Resort which is a Five Star property which received many accolades through the years. While we respect your comment that the hotel is worth a decent 4 star, we believe that this feedback is not founded. For breakfast, we offer a buffet and an A La Carte service which is highly appreciated by our esteemed clientele. The variety and the quality of the cuisine including the pastries is always very much praised. Your comment qualifying the breakfast as dreadful is vague. While we welcome all comments positively for further service improvement, we are now unable to locate the areas of improvement. We offer training to our associates on a daily basis in view of offering an irreproachable service at all levels. We have 250 team members for only 61 Suites and Villas. While we respect your views on no staff efficiency, we do not share the same opinion. We have numerous positive comments on staff appreciation. From the moment we arrived the hotel staff paid attention to every detail. The room was very well appointed, comfortable and very clean. Staff put us at our ease and could not have been more welcoming and went the extra to make sure our stay was memorable. Excellent food and service in the main restaurant and this was highly impressive. All in all an excellent stay which we thoroughly enjoyed.

A very quiet beautiful upmarket hotel with warm and friendly staff. The rooms are huge and exquisite with fantastic positions all on the beach. The swimming Beach was great, next to it is a fantastic pool and heated jacuzzi. The quality of the food was excellent . Gorgeous spaa in tranquil surrounds. If a quiet, restful and peaceful stay is what you are looking for this is the hotel for you.

Very nice hotel, very nice location, the service is generally very good and the staff always friendly and helpfull but I had several unacceptable problems for such a highly rated hotel: Restaurant bookings were always not properly confirmed by front office While not being very busy , the wait for our food was sometime too long at the hotel restaurants ( 30 minutes for a coffe , almost 45 minutes for a fish ) Very bad experience at check out While I had nformed the front office staff of an early departure at 5 AM , and asked them to arrange a wake up call and pick up my luggage accordingly, they didn't, and we got to the airport late

Best Babymoon!
From the moment we arrived we were treated with indescribeable hospitality and luxury! I am 5 months pregnant and Yanesh (manager) was kind enough to ensure we were given a ground floor unit for my ease. The property itself is stunning with amazing facilities to keep you occupied everyday. Bathrooms are spacious and the outdoor showers are an added luxury! Staff are very helpful and always ready to provide for you! Beach and pools are clean and well maintained as well as the spa and gym. The highlight of our trip was definitely the food with every evening providing a different gastronomical treat! Will definitely be back again, thank you Shanti Maurice and a special thanks to Yanesh and Khun Khun and mostly Sandy for really taking care of us this week!

Fantastic hotel, but food and drink pricey
Room was extremely comfortable and the service is exceptional. Note the sea here can be too shallow to swim in at low tide, and we stayed during a neep tide when the water was too low to use the pedaloes, canoes etc. Highly recommend the trip to swim with dolphins arranged by the hotel, note you need to be a strong swimmer though to jump off the boat on cue and swim rapidly to keep up with them - children under 12 probably couldn't manage it. The only thing which marred an otherwise fantastic hotel is the extreme overcharging. For example at lunchtime a lamb curry is £30 UK equivalent (and the rice is £5 extra!), pizzas are £20, a Coke around £5. Yes you expect to pay a premium in a luxury hotel, but when prices are as out of kilter with the local economy as this it feels like extortion and leaves a bad taste.

Paradise
We spent a lovely week. Everything was beautiful and wonderful. All the staff were friendly and kind. The grounds offer a variety of activities and restaurants yet with such a stunning beach all needed is there. The kid's club appealed to our 7 and 10 year olds. They toook our kids fishing and on a field trip....our kids begged to go to the kid's club...leaving us a few hours to hit the amazing spa or beach. We cannot wait to go back!

Relaxing week in Mauritius
We spent 5 nights here and had a great stay. The service we received was 5 star, there's a lot of activities to keep one occupied. The beach is spectacular and the food is delicious.

Very good, but could improve
Hotel landscaping is great; scenery is amazing. We had a few issues on arrival to the room, but the hotel staff responded quickly and rectified it. There is not much variety of restaurants, although the food we tried at hotel was very good. There are special culinary nights almost daily. We did not try it as we thought it was very expensive, and that it was more about the rum/alcohol (which we don't drink). A cheaper package could have been handy, with no alcohol included. The hotel is a bit remote, and hence you are at mercy of taxi services and hotel concierge for transport. We though these were very expensive. The concierge service probably needs improvement. The hotel entrance is nice, but the actual reception and waiting area was very plain and could be much better.

Fantastic resort in a secluded part of the island
Well run, French and Indian themed resort in Chemin Garnier. Staff is attentive and discreet. Spa and yoga classes were excellent. Go for the beachfront villa.

Quiet atmosphere but room for improvement
We enjoyed clean beach and quite atmosphere at this hotel. But I think there is still room for improvement in staff and restaurant. Hotel staffs always talk to us `Nihao!` . Even after we told them that we are not chinese at check-in and breakfast, they say 'Nihao!' anywhere and anytime!! We have not had such experiences in top tier hotels like Aman resorts, Raffles, Banyan tree and Four seasons etc... I understand there are many Chinese customers in this hotel. But we cannot bear being treated like this. Therefore, we never recommend other Asian guys to visit this hotel. Also, the number of towels is limited to one or two for each room in this hotel. Generally, hotels located in the beach provide some additional towels in the room. Because residents use them for beach chairs.

Pleasant resort hotel with great food
The hotel is nice and clean, service is good, staff helpful. Trip however was dissappointing which was a shame as was a special occation. Some issues were as follows: Chose pay at hotel option thru expedia because needed credit card to book onward travel flights however hotel rushed to charge card causing great difficulties. The lighting around the resort walkways is spooky rather than romantic and needs to be looked in to. The villa was uncomformtably small and the shower and wc had huge glass windows looking out onto a small private courtyard with no curtain. Anyone from outside could access the courtyard as there was a small gate with latch and no matter how many times we locked it, someone would magically undo the latch and leave the gate open which added to the spooky feel. The villas private pool was a waste because it was to cold to use without risking falling ill so we had to just look at it for a whole week. The hotel insisted it couldnt be warmed to more than 27 which would have been fine if the weather was warmer and it wasnt so windy. Sure its expensive to warm we have our own pool at home but if youre charging so much to guests you cant be so frugal with youre electricity and gas. Pool really should have been 29 or 30 degrees especially if guest requests. Finally beach looked really nice but be aware its quite shelly and rocky and you cant really walk around bare foot.

Fantastic hotel for family stay
One of the best hotels we ever stayed in. Everything was perfect. We had a junior suite and half-board rate, it was good value. The food is very good (similar to a one michelin star standards) so you don't mind to explore the menu every evening and it's pricey so better to have it included. I advise to ask for lower floor if you go for the junior suite to have direct access to the beach. The Spa is known as the best of the island and I recommend the Shanti fusion massage. The kids club is really nice and so well equipped, it's very convenient. As regards to facilities and activities, there is a program of fitness/ well-being activities you can do for free or with supplement. And the hotel is well placed to do local visits e.g. crocodile reserve, swim with dolphins at Riviere Noire, Chamarel, lots of watersports clubs around. My husband did kite-surf at Le Morne. I recommend to rent a car for a few days to go around though. Very friendly staff and the grounds are beautiful. We loved Shanti hotel and will definitely go back.

Nice hotel, but not beach
Nice boutique hotel on a remote and peaceful part of the island. Only downside of this hotel is the beach is not ideal for swimming; water is shallow (knee height only), full of sea urchins and stones.

Tranquility, quality and a truly memorable stay
The lush grounds gives The Shanti Maurice a tropical feel and its position right on the beach is unbeatable. The lagoon formed by the coral reef means that sea bathing is safe and you are never out of your depth. The swimming pools are well maintained and the infinity feature can be mesmerising. You will not meet more naturally friendly, welcoming people anywhere and the hotel staff almost anticipate your request before you make it. Guido, the General Manager is a true gentleman and leads by example, often to be found helping clear or reset tables at busy times and he and his team soon learn your name and you feel that you are one of their personal guests. The rooms are modern and very comfortable (ours was 15 paces from the beach) and they are serviced twice daily by extremely obliging young ladies. The food quality is superb with two menus to choose from and all is cooked and served on an individual basis. My wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. We have stayed at some top class hotels throughout the world and this has to be one of the best. As an example of their customer focus, I rang a few days ahead to ask for a ground floor room because my wife had suffered a leg injury - no problem. On departure, our flight was put back to 23.30 and we therefore asked for a late check-out, if possible - no problem. We were able to use our room until 7.30 p.m. with no additional charge. That's customer service at its best.

The staff could not do enough for us. Our bath wasn't working on the first dat of arrival but they managed to get it fixed the same day. The staff sometimes took a little while to get to the room but were very attentive. The staff and the management were very polite and made us extremely welcome even when we had no lights and TV one evening owing to a cyclone. Te resort is very clean and tidy and peaceful with no crowds. The facilities were exceptional and inviting. The food was cooked the way we wanted it and very often dishes that were not on the menu were cooked to our satisfaction.
