A peaceful getaway
Our stay at Lumeria was so much better than expected, and our expectations weren't particularly low. We absolutely loved the diversity of outdoor spaces -- the saltwater pool and hot tub, the hammocks in the trees, the meditation huts and labyrinth, the fire pits, and the porch outside of our room. The free breakfast was delicious and varied. My husband was concerned that too many of the food offerings would be "healthy", but there was a great mix of fresh fruit, eggs, sausage / bacon, and a daily changing special. Our room (a Deluxe Room with a Garden View) was spacious and perfect for two. The high ceilings, dark wood, and amazing shower (the room didn't have a bathtub) added elegance. The air-conditioning was more than adequate for cooling the space. I participated in a few meditation / yoga classes, which were great. From some of the communication, I was concerned that attending classes (something my husband wasn't going to be into) was required, but there was no pressure at all for us to attend classes. We would definitely stay here again. While only 20 minutes from the airport, Lumeria was an incredibly peaceful getaway.

Amazing stay. The classes were wonderful, the hammocks in the whispering pines were lovely and the pool was amazing. The breakfast had fresh dragonfruit and pineapple, which was out of this world and the other options were delicious.

I enjoyed yoga and language classes with your staff. The room was nice with a great view. We were there in the rain so didn't get to enjoy the hammocks and outdoor spaces as much as we would have liked, but we did do the jacuzzi in the rain! Breakfast was great and ample. Didn't like the dust on the louvered doors of the bathroom.

Exceeded my expectations in every way. Truly an organic, whole-soul, rejuvenating and enlightening experience. John and the staff are personable, real and accommodating. Yoga was amazing, especially Sheridan. Food was incredible with most vegetables coming from the garden. Really enjoyed the labyrinth, gardens, meditations, quiet environment. Simply magical. Truly a jewel of the island. Oh, and the breakfast was incredible with much variety and a great assortment of healthy items.

Property is well kept but showing wear. Room was spacious but paid for an upgrade but ended up next to gravel parking lot. Not what we expected. Charged for amenities that were not used and it was per person and not per room. Manager told us it was our fault because we used Expedia for booking. Feeling totally ripped off.

Lumeria was such a peaceful escape in the beautiful Upcountry of Maui. It’s central location made it easy to get to everything we wanted to see across the island, but in the evening we got to come back and escape to Lumieria’s private mineral pool, take part in the mindfulness and yoga classes, and lie underneath the crystal clear starry night sky (which we took in each night from the meditation lawn)… it is also within a 10 min drive to both Paia Bay and Makawao, quirky little areas with intimate restaurants and shops. Will definitely be coming back here and making Lumeria our base camp from now on in Maui.

Lumeria is perfect! It is a beautiful retreat. While it isn’t a beach front property, it was worth escaping the crowds to truly relax but still close enough to everything. The staff was super helpful in getting everything perfect for my stay. I did the lomi spa treatment and my masseuse was phenomenal. The on-site restaurant is very good for both dinner and breakfast.

A retreat from resort life
Lumeria Maui was a wonderful way to quietly enjoy Maui away from the pre-packaged resort experience. Laying in a hammock, yoga under the trees, or finding time to read in the breezeway were simple ways to enjoy peaceful moments on our vacation. If you are looking for something off the beaten path, this is it. A short drive from Kahului and very close to the adorable town of Makawao and the coastal town of Paia provides lots of options for your day.

I’m giving a mixed review because there were some great things and some things that weren’t so great! Beautiful property but absolutely don’t try to stay there without a rental car as I did. The on-site restaurant is closed due to COVID and Uber is extremely unreliable. Though Uber is available- it’s often “no cars available” so you are literally stuck up on that beautiful hill with no food. Uber eats is a joke as only two fast food places are available for delivery. If you have a car none of this will be an issue. I found two of the employees helpful while another not so much. The rooms vary and I did change rooms so got to see/stay in two of them. The first one wasn’t very clean and was missing the yoga mats and a phone, but the second room was delightful- it changed my experience at the property. Overall I would stay there again but I would wait for their restaurant and spa to open up and I would certainly have a car!

We stayed at this hotel cause it was recommended by my girlfriend, she raved about it. Note- her experience was pre COVID. We stayed 1 night. The grounds, room, & bathroom is very nice, old school plantation style. The bed was very uncomfortable, my husband didn’t sleep well. He tossed & turned all night. I slept “ok” but not well either. The walls are thin & you can hear your neighbors. We paid the $30.00 per person resort fee which was suppose to include - pool, yoga/fitness class, parking, & breakfast. We didn’t get any breakfast & yoga is online class which you can get for free anyways. I don’t feel that they should be charging the $30.00 resort fee per person when the main things we are not getting due to COVID. We paid almost $70.00 including tax for basically pool & parking. That is not “ok.” I know the hotel industry is not doing well because of COVID, but it’s certainly not fair to charge patrons for things that they are not getting. But in all fairness, the person who checked us in said we didn’t have to leave at check out time & we could stay longer. So, if we had stayed longer than I probably wouldn’t have mind paying the resort fee. I doubt that I will stay here again.
